“A Maine restaurant owner said she had no regrets about yelling at an unruly toddler and angering the child’s parents.

Darla Neugebauer, who owns Marcy’s Diner in Portland, said the girl’s parents ordered three pancakes Saturday but left them out of the child’s reach — which caused the toddler to cry loudly, reported WLBZ-TV.

The diner’s owner said she asked the family to leave or take the crying child outside, but they refused, so she slammed her hands down on the counter and told the girl to quiet down.” *

  1. I love this restaurant owner and wish there were more like her. I don’t care if it’s a restaurant, a movie theater, or a church, there’s no place for screaming kids where there is a captive audience and if the parents are that rude and ignorant someone should step in.

  2. Darla is my new hero! Parents need to be responsible and raise their children to behave in public. I remember when i was 3 years old and i started a tantrum in a resturaunt. We had already ordered food and my mother called the waitress over, cancelled our order and plucked me and my sister out of the booth and took us home where we didnt get dinner that night. You know what? I never pulled that shit agin and when my mother took us out to eat we were always complemented for how well behaved us children were. Get a clue young parents, sometimes old school methods are the way to go. If a child cannot get it together in 5 minutes REMOVE them from the situation, teach kids there are consequences to their actions, a toddler can understand this. As for Darla, you effing rock! If i was in that resturaunt i would have left you a $20 tip for dealing with that shit.

  3. Two things not working here. Parents need to assess their entitlement from time to time and business owners need to restrain themselves from time to time. Parents – your children are not the center of everyone else’s universe. For the most part, people don’t care who your children are or what they want. Business owners – keep your head when dealing with people that have never heard of the concept of other people. Remain polite and remember that without customers you have no business at all.
