The novel by first time author Anna Todd was a breakout hit of Toronto-based community Wattpad – an online community where users publish books one chapter at a time.
According to reports the main character is linked with a ‘womanising boyfriend based on Harry Styles’.
Todd’s novel has amassed over 1 billion views and the synopsis refers to the ‘Styles-like character’ as a ‘rude boy’.
It reads: “Tessa Young is an 18 year old college student with a simple life, excellent grades, and a sweet boyfriend. She always has things planned out ahead of time, until she meets a rude boy named Harry, with too many tattoos and piercings who shatters her plans.””
