Mad Men, season 7, episode 13, “The Milk and Honey Route” (the next-to-last episode) is reviewed. Mad Men has a “mother’s day” episode with Betty Francis revealing that she is dying of aggressive lung cancer. But is this considered Betty’s “happy ending?” Who is Betty Francis, and who is she as a person– does this storyline finally give her self-agency? Meanwhile, the show narrows in on just the few other remaining characters– Don and Pete. Pete reunites with Trudy…but why? Can Don continue his life, now that his children’s’ mother is dying? Is Don returning to Dick Whitman, or leaving him forever? Is there any character to doesn’t allow their life to be dictated by other people? Don meets up with veterans who may know Dick Whitman, and has his catharsis shown to him, then ripped away.
