John Iadarola (https://twitter.com/jiadarola) and Ana Kasparian (http://www.twitter.com/AnaKasparian) hosts of The Young Turks and guest Abby Martin (https://twitter.com/abbymartin) discuss an update to the accidental shooting of Eric Harris by Robert Bates, and some new evidence that implies that Bates’ training records by the Tulsa Sheriff’s Department were fake.
“In Tulsa, Oklahoma Robert Bates was a volunteer Deputy when he accidentally fatally wounded Eric Harris, an unarmed suspect. Bates claims he thought he was using his taser when he shot and mortally wounded Harris. Now a number of sources are saying that there is more to the story. It seems that Bates training records were false, meaning he didn’t even have the proper certification to be riding along with police officers in the first place. Adding on to that, it also implies that he was well aware of this, and used his influence from donations of equipment and to campaign funds to buy his place as a volunteer.
Bates is currently free on bail awaiting trial on the charge of manslaughter.”
