The concept of Cold Consent, a policy by federal agents where they stop a suspected drug smuggler, is being used by Drug Enforcement Administration agents to illegally stop and search anyone they’d like. This is being used by various federal agents to pocket valuables and cash from whomever they’d like. According to an Inspector General report there is no set guidelines for what can be considered suspected behavior and the policy is overall vague. The report concluded that the policy is likely to raise civil rights concerns.”
