“Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses how SNL spoofed a car advertisement and featured a girl joining up with ISIS that is causing outrage among some viewers. Some took to twitter after the broadcast and condemned the parody sketch. Fox News took up the charge and added its voice to those that were offended by the long running sketch show that just saw its 40th birthday.
The concern is that this may be too soon to start joking about a crisis that is on going and that viewers of the sketch may not take the issue as seriously. On the other hand, defendants of the sketch compare it to the works of Mel Brooks, such as his musical number ‘Springtime for Hitler’ that poked fun at Adolf Hitler at a time that the holocaust was still fresh to many.”
