The Walking Dead season 5, episode 11, “The Distance” is reviewed and discussed with episode 10, “Them.” The group walks away, thirsty, and is tempted by bottled water from “a friend” which they refuse. When the friend , Aaron, makes his presence known he provides a tantalizing offer, which Rick is very hesitant to accept the whole way, leading the audience back and forth on their trust issues as well. Father Gabriel renounces his faith, but later begs God for mercy– what role does religion play in The Walking Dead? Will Daryl and Sasha be able to cope with their enormous losses? What IS living and surviving, and is there any point in trying?
