Does this short ad for University of Moncton look more like a beer commercial than a college recruitment video to you? Because it sure does to Moncton’s professors, who aren’t happy with one scene that features a pair of students making out in the Canadian university’s library:
Marie-Noëlle Ryan, the president of the university’s professors’ and librarians’ association, calls the video “pathetic.”
”It’s the way it’s like selling the university, like it’s a beer product,” Ryan said.
“And it’s not that way that you will recruit serious students and people who really want to learn and have good diplomas.” (Via CBC)

Has anybody noticed that in this video, they use the word “langue” which means “tongue” as a motif: they are proud of their tongue, French, And so when the couple kissing comes on the screen, they make a witty play on words to say they use their “tongue” for also other stuff than all these academic things they just mentioned. But the video is actually mostly serious (there’s another joke about using your tongue to talk back, when we see the hockey players). Otherwise, what they say (in French) is quite serious and to the point.
