“Some members of the pro-gun group Open Carry Tarrant County reportedly harassed Texas State Rep. Poncho Nevarez, a Democrat, in his office on Jan. 13 after he turned down the group’s request to support House Bill 195, which would allow people in Texas to openly carry handguns without a permit.
State Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer claimed the same group created a “very hostile situation” in his office at the Texas Capitol in Austin. He wasn’t present for the incident, but said his staff told him.
In response to the incidents, the Texas House voted to install panic buttons to notify the Department of Public Safety and allow lawmakers to eject hostile people from their offices “at their discretion.””* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.
