Norman Solomon is a journalist, author, media critic, antiwar activist, and in 2012 was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives from California’s second congressional district. His most recent book is Made Love, Got War: Close Encounters with America’s Warfare State. He recently wrote a feature story in The Nation about the Obama Administration’s war on whistle blowers, specifically the case of the Wall Street Journal’s James Risen, who is being threatened with imprisonment if he doesn’t reveal his sources.
A former Obama delegate, Solomon has since become a critic of the president. Is Obama similar to George W. Bush in terms of policy and decision-making? How has media failed, and how can it change? Jimmy Dore discusses all this and more with author and activist, Norman Solomon.

Great thanks to Jimmy Dore and Norman Solomon for this contribution to the current political discussion! It is time someone talked about these things in a professional, intelligent way, and you did. What a relief from the soap-opera style “reporting” of most other media in the US!
It is so sad to see that it makes practically no difference whether a democrat or a republican is President of the United States, nor what shade of skin colour, male or female – the same groups of people will dictate the really important issues, like if there will be yet another war fueling profits of the weapons industry!
I truly hope that people like you will make a difference in future! More people need to hear what you have to say.
