A Facebook threat is being looked at in Supreme Court case Elonis v. United States, which will weigh in on the free-speech rights of people who use violent or threatening language on Facebook and other social media sites. The court is also looking at Eminem lyrics and the creative freedom of people to frame threats as expression that is protected by the first amendment. The case surrounds Anthony Elonis of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania who was convicted of violating a federal law that makes it a crime to threaten another person.
