1) How old are you and what state do you live in?
64. I live in Texas.
2) When did you become a member of TYT?
If memory serves me, in November 2010. I believe I’m member #2320.
3) How do you consume the show?
I watch it in the member archives. I watch TYT University, TYT Sports, and Pop Trigger on youtube.
4) What field do you work in?
I’m a retired computer analyst. I worked for 7 years at Xerox Corporation, and 20 years at the Texas Comptroller’s Office. Before that, I taught Astronomy and Physics as a grad student at the University of Texas. Before that, I taught Astronomy at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago.
5) How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?
Entertaining. Informative. Adamant. Liberal. Brilliant.
6) Do you have a favorite TYT moment?
There are too many to pick just one.
7) Who is your favorite co-host? Why?
Ana Kasparian. Of all the TYT people, her opinions most closely match mine. Besides that, she’s drop dead gorgeous! (Desi Doyen is a close second, though.)
8) What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?
I wanted to keep getting TYT after you left SiriusXM, and I wanted to support you for all the years of entertainment and information. Of all the political shows I watch, no one else even comes close to matching my political opinions as TYT.
9) Are you surprised that The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?
A little. I was attracted to TYT for its political information and opinions. But I’m happy it has grown.
10) Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as ?truth telling.? What does this mean to you as a member?
That TYT will never knowingly mislead me. TYT will give me all the facts as they know them. And if they ever un-knowingly mislead us, they will issue a correction as soon as they realize it. It means that I can TRUST TYT implicitly.
11)Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?
I’d love to get coffee with Ben, so we could talk about sports and old movies. I’d love to go to a bar with Jimmy Dore, because it would be a blast to get drunk with him. I’d love to go to dinner with Desi Doyen, because she is brilliant, beautiful, and closer to my age than Ana, so we could could probably relate better. (Though I’d still be robbing the cradle! ;-) ) Also, Desi knows more about science than Ana, and I’m a trained scientist.
12) If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?
I would cover climate change, because I think this is the greatest danger facing the human race. It is the thing most likely to kill off humanity. No one at TYT seems to have the scientific training to sufficiently explain the problem so that people can understand how serious the problem is. By the time our coastal cities are under water enough for it to be clear how much the danger is even to the morons in office, it will be too late to do anything to fix it. It will be irreversible. The Earth existed for billions of years before humans existed, and it will have no problem going on for billions of years after we commit species suicide.
13) Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?
Only when I used to watch the Main Show live, and participated in the live forum. I don’t do this anymore, because I found myself getting caught up in side discussions, and missing too much of the show.
14) Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?
No. I have thought long and hard for many years in order to arrive at my opinions. While I have changed many opinions over the years as new information has been presented to me, none of these has been due to TYT. Probably because we agree on 90% of the issues, and Cenk is wrong about the other 10% ;-) Ana and I agree on around 99% of the issues. It’s almost like she reads my mind before expressing an opinion!
15) Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?
Only my girl friend/life partner. I tried to convince her that it’s important to support such a strong progressive voice in politics, but she’s not as impressed with TYT as I am. Go figure. Other than her, I’m no good at proselytizing. Sorry.
