McDonald’s are being closed in Russia with over 200 McDonald’s restaurants now under government investigation. A regulator has already shut down nine McDonald’s restaurants in recent weeks for alleged health and safety violations. However, the crackdown is widely seen as Russian retaliation for sanctions imposed by the U.S. and Europe over Moscow’s role in the Ukraine crisis.
