1. How old are you and what state do you live in?
I’m 41 and live in Michigan.
2. When did you become a member of TYT?
I think 2006-ish. I started listening when they were on XM starting at like 6am Eastern.
3. How do you consume the show?
Audio podcast 100% of the time.
4. What field do you work in?
I’m a lawyer in the utility industry.
5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?
Honest
Intelligent
Insightful
Hip
Fun
6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?
Cenk teeing off on the media failure to challenge the push for the Iraq war. So passionate and so well-deserved.
7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?
Ben. He is more of an equal to Cenk than anyone else. Super smart and insightful.
8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?
I got hooked on the show pretty quickly and wanted to make sure it would stay around. I contribute to PBS and NPR for the same reason.
9. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?
From where I started listening, yes. But the last couple years you could see it coming. One show isn’t enough. That said, I don’t have the capacity to consume more than the main show.
10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?
I don’t feel like Cenk is trying to push an agenda. He has done more research and given more thought to the issues than almost anyone else in the media.
11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?
Cenk, Ben, and Dave Koller for any and all of them.
12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?
Two things. The first is the financial collapse and resulting failure to hold anyone accountable or make any changes to stop it from happening again. That really pisses me off and more than anything epitomizes the cancer of money in politics (them and the fossil fuel industry). The other is the government/private industry revolving door. I’ve worked in government and private industry and know several others who have also. I’d like to share my story because it’s a lot different than the devious portrayal on the show.
13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?
Yes, I’m a member of Wolf PAC in Michigan and we got together earlier this year. Everyone there was a TYT fan and it was one of the most intelligent conversations I’ve had with a group of people I didn’t know ever.
14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?
I know it has but I can’t remember what the issue was.
15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?
I’ve tried to get my husband to join. He really likes the show but apparently likes Tony Korheizer better. I’ve referred a couple friends to check out the show but don’t push it because I don’t want to come off like a cult member. :)
