Interview With Member #4 Ed Uthman

In [DEAD] Member Interview by hmdalloul0 Comments

1. How old are you and what state do you live in?

62, Texas

2. When did you become a member of TYT?

I don’t recall the year, but it was very shortly after memberships were being offered. The last I heard, I was Member #4.

3. How do you consume the show?

Downloaded video files from the Member Archives on the TYT website. Also, I recently started listening to TYT Old School, which I subscribe to on iTunes. I think it is terrific, btw.

4. What field do you work in?

I am a practicing physician specializing in pathology.

5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?

Informative, objective, irreverent, and fun.

6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?

No, there are too many to count. Sorry.

7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?

Ben. His chemistry with Cenk is unparalleled. That’s what got me hooked in the first place. I accidentally ran across the show on Sirius Satellite Radio and was immediately addicted. But I would also extend particular kudos to Wes Clark, Jr., and Gina Grad.

8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?

I was worried that TYT would either close down or sell out without listener support.

9. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?

No. If you are going to invest in all the infrastructure for high-quality video production, the more shows the better. I think it is sound business strategy.

10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?

That TYT does not parrot the liberal party line but weighs each issue on the facts.

11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?

Coffee with Ana, drinks with Ben, dinner with Cenk.

12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?

I am very interested in exposing medical quackery, which has grown into a multibillion-dollar industry in the last 20 years.

13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?

Yes, but only in casual conversation. I have never been to a meet-up, for instance.

14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?

Yes. I was pro-Iraq intervention in 2003, but TYT (and other sources) turned me to the opposite side by 2004. I think TYT has also turned me away from always supporting Israel.

15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?

I don’t think so. I’m not much of a salesman, I’m afraid. ;)
