October 2007

Professor at the University of Texas

5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?

Progressive news

6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?

The 2008 election coverage.

7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?

Ben. Dude is funny as hell.

8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?

I wanted the full podcasts.

9. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?

Not at all, although I suppose that 7 years ago I would have assumed that television was the ultimate goal (I understand why it is not).

10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?

No corporate interests shaping what he tells us.

11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?

Coffee: Ben, Bar: Cenk, Dinner: Ana

12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why

Scientific studies related to psychology. Because I publish research on that topic.

13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?

I went to a meet up once when Cenk was at the Daily Kos convention in 2007.

14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?

Not surprisingly, Cenk has made me acutely aware of the problem of money in politics.

15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?

Yes, in graduate school I got a number of other people interested in the show.
