1. How old are you and what state do you live in?
38, Missouri
Please don’t say Missurah, its annoying and nobody says it except news anchors and politicians. Even if we did why would anybody else?
2. When did you become a member of TYT?
I don’t know. Before Bush’s second term?
3. How do you consume the show?
I have a long commute, so on the weekdays I listen to it on the way to work and back. I usually get through both shows and the post game. On Saturday, I usually stream Friday’s video.
I use downcast on my phone to download the membership podcast, because it lets me download podcasts that require authorization. Then on the weekend, I simply use my ipad and stream the video from your site.
4. What field do you work in?
I am an electrical engineer.
5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?
Brave, Funny, Informative, Unique, Principled – Maybe not in that order.
6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?
A while back, I can’t remember if it was the actual show or some other thing; but Micheal Shure was on there with a busted up face. Then he started going into micturition syncope and how he had passed out peeing and hit his face on the toilet after a night of gambling in Vegas. I don’t know if it is my favorite moment, but I definitely remember it. It prompted me to change the saying ‘Does a bear shit in the woods’ to ‘Does Micheal Shure piss sitting down’. Nobody ever gets it.
7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?
Can’t pick. There are so many, which is great for keeping the show interesting. But you can never get rid of Ben, Micheal, Anna, Jimmy, Johnny Pie, or Westeros. Johnny Pie took a while to grow on me, but now I think he is more informed then the rest of those guys.
8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?
At the time I was listening to them on Sirius satellite radio, and they were on the left channel which is basically what I listened to. It seemed to me most of the people on that channel were just as ridiculous as their counterparts on the right channel. Then when TYT left Sirius, I canceled my subscription and started my subscription to TYT. I have been listening almost every day since.
I really hate to say this, but I think Cenk’s reasoning and acumen when it comes to political and even tactical situations is very impressive, and I rely on it.
Another reason is when I listen to TYT I can win political arguments, because you come with facts and you aren’t rooting for one team or the other. This is very important in Missouri. Usually in a political debate it is me against everyone else, and listening to you sometimes helps me to get them to re-evaluate their positions. Which is important to me.
9. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?
No. I am waiting for on-site reporting.
10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?
I don’t know. I have a fear of propaganda, so I would say I don’t like it. You don’t need to say it, it is clear in the delivery.
11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?
Coffee – Ben
Bar – Anna
Dinner – Cenk
12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?
I thank god every day that there is TYT Sports so Cenk can talk about that nonsense there.
13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?
No, though I enjoy the tweets being read.
14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?
Probably. I have learned a certain amount of clairvoyance from Cenk. He has helped me find the apparent truth of the matter more quickly than before.
15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?
I live in a liberal neighborhood in downtown Kansas City. The people I talk to there are usually impressed by my knowledge of current events and politics. I tell them I get most of my information from TYT.
