1. How old are you and what state do you live in?

I’m 56. I live in Washington St.

2. When did you become a member of TYT?

It was either Sept. or Oct. of ’07 when I became a member. I started listening when they started on Air America.

3. How do you consume the show?

90% member podcasts. 5% Youtube, 5% TYT website.

4. What field do you work in?

I’m a Ceramic artist.

5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?

News with progressive analysis.

6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?

When I visited the Wilshire Blvd. Studio in February ’08 when the Tai-Chi sword master was doing his demo. in that tiny studio space. (testing the limits), It was the end of the 2nd hour I think. I visited with Cenk, Dave, Jayar, Ana, Jesus and Bart.

There are so many favorite on air moments. Here’s one of the more absurd ones: When Jill Pike did a series of segments where she took photos of here ass (not naked, very tasteful) during a period of either 3 or 4 weeks to see if she could shrink it through working out, diet etc. I think the results were inconclusive. Wow, are we in need of more content guys?

7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?

Ben. I think he and Cenk have good back and forth repartee. Maybe because I’m used to him having been a part of TYT’s beginning and I’m used to their style. Ben keeps Cenk on his toes and doesn’t let him get away with making pronouncements. It deepens the analysis. They are entertaining together. I believe Ben called it ‘Entermation’  I also appreciate Miichael Shure a lot. Cogent cool headed well informed analysis from him.

8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?

They were on the Seattle station between 3 and 6am. I would mostly listen to the “Best of the Young Turks” on Sunday afternoons when the reception was better. (I live out in the boonies) The station had parts of broadcasts you could stream from their website but it all became a big pain to get my TYT fix. So I bought an iPod and became a member downloading the entire show. One of the better decisions I’ve made. TYT are also the reason I bought my first iPod.

9. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?

Not really. Cenk doesn’t exactly mask his ambition.

10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?

It means that I’ll be getting the news presented straight from the source with analysis and insight that isn’t filtered through the beltway/corporate news establishment. Instead it’s presented and discussed by hosts who think critically and exercise a healthy skeptical view.

11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?

I want to say Jimmy Dore for all three, but for real…. coffee with Michael Shure, the bar with Cenk, dinner with Iadarola.

12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?

Money in politics is definitely the elephant in the room. I think I’d cover that with focus on certain members of congress, where their contributions come from and what legislation they introduce or sponsor, what favors they give or receive etc. TYT covers this story well even singling out certain politicians. Maybe it could be a weekly or random segment like “This Week in Corporatist Douchebagery”. Then Cenk could say, “Wolf-Pac.com!” And we could all take a drink.

13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?

A little bit through Twitter.

14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?

Not really. I’m a ’super lib’ as Cenk would call it and a political nerd since grade school. The show has helped me cement my opposition to the death penalty however.

15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?

Yes I have and I do. l usually refer people to the Youtube channel so they can get a taste for the show and see if it’s their cup of tea. As big as they’ve become not everyone has a taste for TYT.
