1. How old are you, and what state do you live in?

I am 47 and live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

2. When did you become a member of TYT?

I became a member of TYT the Summer of 07′.

3. How do you consume the show?

I podcast the show, sometimes I will additionally watch a few YouTube videos from the show as well.

4. What field do you work in?

I am a self-employed entrepreneur, I own a residential cleaning business.

5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?

TYT is- a smart, progressive, news program.

6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?

My favorite TYT moment is really a show.  The first show that was hosted by Wes Clark Jr., Ben Mankiewicz and Michael Shure.  Cenk was away and it was the first time the three had hosted a show together.  It was the funniest “episode” of TYT.  Wes was very serious and Ben and Michael were just being silly to counteract Wes’s demeanor that day.  I don’t think I ever laughed more listening to any TYT show, including Jimmy Dore! ;)

7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?

This is from years ago but I can’t remember her name.  I know she has since moved to Alaska and she often hosted the show with Cenk by phone or skype.  I told him in person one time that they had great “repartee”, she was the female version of Cenk; very knowledgable of politics and pop culture and quick witted.   And secondly, I don’t think RJ Eskow gets enough credit for being a good cohost.

8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?

This was several years ago right after Rosie O’Donnell hosted The View, she had a blog and would often post YouTube videos of TYT.  That’s how I first heard of Cenk and the show.  I started getting the free podcast and after only a couple of weeks, I fell in love with the show and decided to become a member.  Financially, it wasn’t an issue, so it wasn’t a big deal to become a member for me.

9. Are you surprised that The Young Turks has become a multiplatform network of multiple channels?

I’m not at all surprised that TYT is popular.  I’m more surprised that it doesn’t have more members and public attention.  I think TYT is the answer for progressive people interested in politics.  It’s a very fulfilling program.  I’m addicted to hearing Cenk’s voice during the week.  I never miss a show and Cenk helps me to understand and DEAL with the political world surrounding me.

10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?

As a member, one of the reasons I stood by TYT for so long is that I really think Cenk sticks to his ideals and tries to keep his sincerity.  I think the show is honest, forthright and tries to be fair in it’s treatment of politics and pop culture.  I think all that fits into the idea of TYT being “Truth Tellers.”

11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?

Oh gosh, that’s a good question…. I would have coffee with John (the caffeine would be needed to discuss the deep world topics I’d want to talk to him about), go to dinner with Cenk ( bonding over food and politics-of cooouuurrrsseee) and go to a bar with Ana (bonding over drinks with my “galpal” would be awesome! :)

12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?

Being a slightly chubby middle-aged feminist…. a MILF (if you will, lol) ;)… I would like to give a perspective that is almost never given on TYT.  I don’t have a favorite topic, I love them all (except sports, I’m with Ana, can’t get into them)  I podcast other progressive shows: David Pakman, Sam Seder, Best Of The Left, Rachael Maddow and most of the other TYT shows.  I have close to five thousand FB friends whom I’d say at least 70% of whom are libs so always have a lot of reading to do from what crops up in the newsfeed, so needless to say, I think I can talk about almost any topic with some knowledge.

13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?

I’ve got a lot of fellow TYT fan friends through FaceBook mostly.

14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?

Yes, I have changed my mind on a lot of issues.  Years ago I was less forgiving of Middle Eastern countries and their ideas of Western Culture.  I never approved of the Iraq War, for obvious reasons (they didn’t attack the United States and I’m a pacifist) but I was less understanding of the plight of Palestinians, for example.  Even though I agree with Cenk about most issues, there are a lot of times I completely disagree with him.  I don’t want to come across as a TYT bot, I know he’s not perfect, but I like that he cares and is passionate and outgoing.

15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?

I tried to get several people to join TYT.  I got several to donate to Wolf-Pac.  I tell them all the things I relayed back to you in this questionnaire.  I love the people of TYT, all of them, they are intelligent, hardworking, passionate people who really care about the world around them.  And as far as trying to get fellow members, I tell them; if you love progressive politics and pop culture, you’ve come to the right place. :)

  1. After rereading my interview, I really should have mentioned my great love and adoration for Ben Mankiewicz. He is my TYT crush of many years. And frankly, there are times when I may be glad when Cenks’ away and Ben is hosting! Truly after Cenk, he is the most funny and knowledgable TYT host. AND he is definitely the cutest. ;)
