1. How old are you and what state do you live in?
I am 50. I live in Illinois.
2. How do you consume the show?
Podcast. I listen the next day.
3. What field do you work in?
Mechanical engineering, automation equipment
4. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?
Intelligent analysis of news/politics
5. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?
I can’t think of one.
6. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?
I think Jimmy Dore. Fridays with Jimmy are just so much fun.
7. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?
I started listening to Cenk on Air America after Al Franken left. After listening to Cenk for perhaps a year I joined because I wanted to support his analysis and dissemination of the news. Although I appreciate the convenience of the podcast, the main reason I became a member was simply to financially support the show so it would continue.
8. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?
I’m a little surprised, but not overly. Cenk is interested in a lot of things. As he’s said many times, the original Young Turks was only supposed to be half politics.
9. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?
It means that Cenk is not beholden to corporate sponsors and can give his honest opinion.
10. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?
I don’t really understand the framing of this question. The core of it seems to be, “which TYT host would you like to talk to” The answer is Cenk.
11. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?
I don’t really understand this question either. There are new stories every day. I don’t know if you mean what type of story, or maybe what story wasn’t covered that I would have liked.
12. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?
No. I did think about starting a meetup group for TYT in Chicago suburbs, but I never got a response when I emailed TYT about this. I realize that I’m probably throwing someone under a bus.
13. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?
I think TYT has changed my view of the police. I’m afraid of them now. I know to be very cautious about how I interacted with them.
14. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?
Yes, although I’ve never gotten anyone to join. I think I say something like TYT is a great source for news.
