1. How old are you and what state do you live in?
51, Minnesota
2. When did you become a member of TYT?
I don’t recall, maybe 2003 or 2004; TYT was still part of Air America
3. How do you consume the show?
I usually watch the hour one and two recording of the main show in the morning before work
4. What field do you work in?
Project Manager, Computer Software company
5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?
Infotainment
6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?
The 99-hour online filibuster
7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?
Ben Mankiewicz. Why? Smart and intelligent analysis
8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?
At the time TYT provided smart analysis of a wide range of news events and I wanted to support that. Unfortunately the focus now is more entertainment but I still pick up pieces of information I don’t get from other sources.
9. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?
No, but the majority of them seem more entertainment driven. I don’t particularly care for the “infotainment” format all the time. I like WTF because it is pure entertainment. I also like The Majority Report, good news analysis.
10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?
I think it means analysis based on historical fact. Having been a political junky since I was a kid, I know today’s news events are not new they repeat themselves. Cenk brings his knowledge of previous events when talking about today’s stories.
11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?
Ben & Cenk for all three but would also include Desi Doyen and Cara Santa Maria
Suggestion: Two-hour power panel covering news and science with all four as host. Pizza and beer on me.
12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover?
Tough one but Cenk is right, “money in politics” Why? It is the primary reason our federal government is so corrupt
13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?
Not really, but have met some at political events.
14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?
Yes, I’m sure it has multiple times.
15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?
Yes, I’ve recommended the show to multiple people over the years. Not sure how many have signed up but I probably focused on the analysis in hour one of the main show as the selling point.
