1. How old are you and what state do you live in?

44 years old.  I live in Texas, but I’m originally from Oregon, which much better explains my political and social views.

2. When did you become a member of TYT?

I honestly can’t remember exactly, but I think it was 2005 or 2006? At least around then is when I heard Cenk, Ben, and Jill on Sirius when they started that. It took me a while to track down the site and become a member, but I was hooked on them from that early show.

3. How do you consume the show?

I wait until it’s compiled and snag it the next day on the member site.

4. What field do you work in?

I’m a social psychologist at the University of Houston — been here for 18 years.

I love it when Ana (or Cenk) discusses some new research from one of our flagship journals.

5. How would you describe TYT in 5 words or less?

Genuine, authentic, opinionated, informative, organic.

6. Do you have a favorite TYT moment?

Sure do.  Years ago, Cenk went on what I have since called the “Anti-religion rant”.  I found it so entertaining and honest that I asked Dave Koller to dig up the footage and send it to me. I couldn’t remember the exact time frame but Dave really knocked himself out and got it to me.  It was the show after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.

7. Who is your favorite co-host? Why?

Wes Clark Jr. because he’s so darn outspoken and has so much real life experience to share.

8. What motivated you to take the extra step of becoming a paying member?

It was easy. Watching a show everyday for free only seems reasonable for so long.  Gotta support the good ones.

9. Are surprised that the The Young Turks has grown into a multiplatform network of multiple channels?

Not at all, but I’ve watched the ups and downs over the years and there have been many of those.

10. Cenk often talks about the TYT brand as “truth telling.” What does this mean to you as a member?

I think it’s spot on, at least Cenk’s version of the truth.  The show still obviously takes a specific perspective, but does present the side and version (especially when it comes to the influence of money) that never gets seen in other media.

11. Which TYT host would you get coffee with? Which one would you go to the bar with? Who would you have dinner with?

I don’t touch coffee, but I’m a craft beer fanatic for 15 years.  So I would skip the coffee and take Wes Clark, Jimmy Dore, Jayar, and Cenk all to a craft beer bar and get loud.  (I’d sit by Jayar hoping his cool vibe would rub off on me at least a little bit.)

12. If you were a co-host on the show, which story would you cover? Why?

“Lindsey Graham found hiding under John McCain’s bed, with Joe Scarborough guarding the door, and a big tub of vaseline sitting on the floor. ”

Oh come on, do I really have to explain why?

13. Have you ever communicated with other TYT fans? If so, how?

Not really.  I would like to do more of that.  But here I (we) are stuck in the most conservative county (Brazoria) in all of the lovely “liberal” state of Texas.  Holy roller doesn’t even begin to describe what we interact with on a daily basis down here.

14. Has the show convinced you to change your position on a particular issue?

Not really.  I sort of mostly agree with most of the perspectives which is why I’ve kept listening for so long.  That said, Cenk is more hawkish and pro-military than I am, but I appreciate his view and think I understand where it comes from.

15. Have you ever referred membership to anyone? If so, what did you say?

I don’t refer membership, but I regularly share the show (or portions) with others who I think might appreciate it.
