“The decision came hours after the Minnesota Vikings ceded to public pressure and barred their best running back, Adrian Peterson, from the team while he deals with his arrest in Texas on charges that he beat his 4-year-old son. That move came less than two days after the Vikings said he would play this week. The reversal, announced around 1 a.m. in Minnesota, came after the Vikings were stridently criticized by fans, women’s groups and sponsors who said the team was insensitive to the issue of domestic violence.
