A student at Schenectady High School is petitioning the school to allow him to use a photograph and of him and his cat, “Mr. Bigglesworth,” as his senior picture, CBS 6 reports.
Draven Rodriguez had the picture taken by a professional photographer, and wanted to use it for his senior portrait. The school initially declined, saying that it can be included in the year book, but not next to the senior portraits of his fellow students.
Rodriguez is spreading a petition online, hoping that if he receives enough support, the school will change its mind.
“I want to be remembered for who I was,” Rodriguez told ABC 6. “I’m really humorous, very witty, and I wanted this to be a statement like, ‘It’s totally like Draven to do that.’”
The school will make a final decision on the placement of the portrait of Rodriguez and his cat next week.
