“A segment on Fox News’ The Five Thursday about White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest went off the rails very quickly as co-host Bob Beckel remarked that looks matter when you job involves being on television. He drove that point home by asking Kimberly Guilfoyle if she thought she would have a chance of being on Fox if her legs were a foot shorter.
“’He’s far superior to the last guy,’ Beckel said of Earnest vs. his predecessor Jay Carney, ‘just in terms of what he looks like.’
“’So we’re now going on looks, that’s perfect Bob,’ Guilfoyle replied.
“As the rest of the hosts joked that they would ‘never do that’ on The Five, Beckel said to her, ‘That coming out of your mouth is a little bit of a stretch.”’
“’Let me ask you this,’ Beckel continued, ‘if those legs of yours were a foot shorter, do you think you’d be here?’” *

Why do they now have relatively attractive female sportscasters? Because they are appealing to the target audience. Men (and probably women too) prefer to look at attractive women, rather than unattractive men.
You can’t blame Fox News, or any other news or entertainment (or news/entertainment?) outlet for playing to a demographic reality to improve ratings. If the average person didn’t like looking at a hot pair of tits, those tits would be no more likely to be present on camera. That simple.
