Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry came under criticism after a recording taken during the NBA free agency period revealed racist comments about then free agent, Luol Deng. Atlanta was rumored to be one of the front running organizations trying to add Deng to their roster. Deng decided to sign with the Miami Heat.

Amidst the recent surfacing of the recording, the Hawks have made headlines the past few weeks in light of Bruce Levinson, Atlanta Hawks owner, who sold his controlling interest of the team. Levinson sold his interest on his own accord after he self told the NBA of his email that had racial undertones about the fans and direction the team/stadium was going.
