  1. The Class War that the conservatives (read: rich assholes) love to bring up whenever income inequality is discussed is the only war they’ve ever not loved.

  2. Raising minimum wage will not resolve the issue, it will only increase the amount of people in poverty. Companies will just use the minimum wage increase as an excuse to increase the amount of money they charge people and the middle class that will not see a raise to reflect the change in cost of living will be brought down. 15 years ago, everyone would get a cost of living raise on the year and most of the time that would be more than the actual cost of living, now people if lucky may get 25 cents raise if any. And yet cost of living keeps going up. This is also the reason why going to college is starting cost more than it is worth. The cost of living going up without wages going up with it is going to cause another great depression.

    1. Except none of what you say is true, and raising the minimum wage doesn’t do all of the things you think it does…

Other places have higher minimum wages without all the doom and gloom you seem to think will happen.

    2. Well then how did our country survive the 50s and 60s when the parity between middle class wages and corporate earnings was on a much, much more equal footing? Oh yeah, that was when our middle class was at it’s strongest.

What needs to happen is that when the minimum wage is raised to where it needs to be, in the $15/hour range, instead of companies only raising prices, which is inevitable, they also need to reign in ceo, executive and share-holder compensation. That’s where the true disparity and plain old unfairness lies.

Putting all the money at the top and keeping it there is what’s killing our economy. Putting more of it into the hands of the poor and middle class, where it will actually get spent and circulate, is the only real way to grow our economy
