“Syria’s foreign minister said on Monday his country welcomed any potential military strikes by by the U.S. in Syria targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria’s terrorist bases, but warned that the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad should be warned first.”
With provisions, Syria has given permission for other nations to conduct airstrikes against ISIS, as long as the outside nations cooperate with the Assad regime. But what are the consequences? Should anyone accept the offer?

Another reason the Assadis might want control of air strikes is that they’ve probably got infiltrators or informants in some groups of insurgents, or even hit squads masquerading as Islamists.
Why is Mankiewicz commenting here? He keeps saying he doesn’t know anything about the situation, and it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t.
