Actually, if I were running Daish, I would take down Jordan first. It’s an easy get, nearly bankrupt from all the Syrian refugees, a minimally equipped military, a Sunni population (Saudi Arabia may be ruled by Sunnis, but it’s got a really big Shia population), and a constantly unstable power dynamic of majority Palestinians ruled by a Hashimite minority. Not necessarily to seize territory, since there’s nothing of worth there, but chaos there would cause the Saudis to freak, but since it’s not a “vital interest” like Saudi oil, Obama would hesitate to commit (and certainly hasn’t had anyone make a contingency plan for this), and if the Saudis tried something by themselves, they’d almost certainly make a humiliating mess of it. As a bonus get, there’s a fair chance Israel might actually get involved, which would have all sorts of propaganda goodies. Syria falling apart is one thing for them (Israel), Jordan is quite another.
