Segregation 2.0 & Why Children Are The First Victims

In The Young Turks on YouTube by Hlarson0 Comments

On the 60th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of education Supreme Court decision, teachers, family members of Brown plaintiffs and teacher’s union leaders gather in Topeka, Kansas to rally for America’s children. New challenges join old as society prioritizes profits over proper education, forcing children into a future with less potential. Can America do better or will the American dream remain out of reach for yet another generation?

This is a production of The Young Turks with correspondent John Iadarola, with support from the American Federation of Teachers.

About the event:
“The president of the American Federation of Teachers will join civil rights leaders and descendants of plaintiffs to recognize the 60th anniversary of the Brown v. Board Supreme Court decision Saturday.

AFT president Randi Weingarten will join Kansas National Education Association president Karen Godfrey, United Teachers of Wichita president Randy Mousley, Game On for Kansas Schools member Heather Ousley, NAACP Kansas City branch Rev. Rodney Williams, KC Healthy Kids vice president of programs Lucinda Noches Talbert (granddaughter of Brown v. Board plaintiff Lucinda Todd), and Tecumseh South Elementary School fifth-grader Lindsay Baltzell outside the Brown v. Board National Historic Site on Saturday.”*
