Ceasefire Hopes Dashed As Rockets Fall & Deaths Rise

“Israel went back on the attack today, hours after a proposed ceasefire was shredded by dozens of rockets fired from Gaza.

The Egyptian-sponsored ceasefire briefly raised hopes that the week long slugfest between Israel and Hamas would come to an end, but Hamas balked at the terms and fired 47 rockets at Israel. The Israeli government then ordered its military campaign to resume.

The Gaza Strip is a Detroit-sized area on the border with Egypt up against the Mediterranean Sea that is one of the most densely packed places on Earth. Technically part of the Palestinian Authority, it has been governed since 2007 by the militant group Hamas.”* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.
