“A University of Pittsburgh student who was cut off from her family for being gay, is asking the public’s help to continue her college education.

Kate Koenig, 19, was about to start college when she was outed when her father went through her mail.

When she returned home for a visit her mother said she had a letter to give her but the printer had no ink so she would email it to her instead, according to a YouTube video she posted last September.
