“Democratic and Republican lawmakers joined hands in song on Tuesday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King, during the Congressional Gold Medal Award Ceremony.
The pair posthumously received the award, which is given each year to those who achieve the nation’s highest accomplishments.
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) were among those lawmakers who joined hands to sing “We Shall Overcome” in honor of the King family.”* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola (TYT University), and Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show) break it down.
