Amazon’s Jeff Bezos announced the new Fire phone which, like the Kindle Fire tablet, will go into direct competition with Apple’s comparable device. It’s slightly bigger than the iPhone 5S, and has a $199/32 gb price when locked in to an AT&T contract, making a similar pricepoint to not only the 5S, but the Samsung Galaxy S5. So where’s the discernable difference? Why choose Fire over a known quantity? Well, there’s the ever-present Mayday help feature, but perhaps Amazon is counting on Firefly real-world/phone search to bridge the gap. But will consumers bite?
