Homeschooler Kicked Out Of Prom For Distracting Dress

“A Virginia homeschooled girl is speaking out about recently being kicked out of a local homeschool prom because a group of dads were allegedly lusting after her.
The story originated on Wine and Marble, a blog run by Hannah Ettinger. Hannah’s sister Clare, a 17-year-old homeschooled senior, wrote of her recent prom experience on the blog.

According to Clare, her boyfriend had purchased them tickets to the prom in advance, and she was really excited about her dress choice for the evening. She complied with the homeschool association’s dress code, which stated that a girl’s dress must be “finger length.” When she arrived at the prom, one of the organizers stopped her to tell her that her dress was too short. After showing her that it was finger length, the woman allowed her to continue on into the prom, but unfortunately for Clare, that was just the beginning of her problems.”* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

  1. RAPE CULTURE at its finest. When powerful men convinced stupid people that mythical Eve was responsible for everything wrong in the universe… disgusting males everywhere breathed a grunt of satisfaction. Yuck.

    1. Actually I breathed a sigh of satisfaction at the “Rape Culture” comment that I thought we weren’t going to get. It’s that spin of “Lusting after the girl” that seems to be put on the situation, it kind of doesn’t fit the scenario and doesn’t do anything to help anyone, even the girl. There’s a MASSIVE difference in “Lusting” after a girl and gawking like a tactless moron. If the men couldn’t stop staring, and the girl got kicked out despite her dress meeting prom standards, then someone needs to be punished over policy violations and those dads need to be told “yeah your not chaperoning our school’s events anymore” but we do not need to sensationalize a real issue by saying they were “Lusting” after the girl. And people are going to care about that difference.
