A man living in the city of Hail, Saudi Arabia, came up with a brilliant idea to feed needy people in his neighborhood while sparing them the “shame” of begging, according to Gulf News.

  1. We first need to get to the point where bureaucracy is not banning feeding the homeless and hungry. You mention something about it being red states, but it is not red states. There have been moves in New York City to prevent food donations to homeless and homeless shelters from citizens and businesses. We have problems, and it is across all municipalities, these folks are unwanted, and the preferred method of dealing with it is an unsung starvation. Until somebody big and powerful calls them all out on it, and the average person is willing to vote on the issue, nothing will happen.

    You contend that people would think it is a fine idea, and in many ways I also believe it is a fine idea, but I guarantee you that the folks that decry it, bring up the possibility of homeless folks fighting and killing for the last piece of food in the community fridge, they will scare the fence people into submission. That’s really why it won’t work. We all want to be good people, we just don’t want “those” people in our neighborhoods.

    And what a fine stance to have in a society where most of us are only a couple of missed mortgage payments from being those people.
