A “riot” broke out during spring break at UC-Santa Barbara, requiring intervention from police officers who broke up the event, which sent a number of people to the hospital.
Have spring break-related activities gotten out of control? Or is it the same as it ever was? Should we encourage an “alternative spring break” emphasizing service over partying?
Our panel discusses these questions and more on this segment of “The Point.”

Maybe there was only two people reported hurt at that riot, but I spent many a night party hopping in Isla Vista as a kid, and I saw people seriously hurt all the time when there was no “riots” going on. Fights break out all the time. Like they said its a major party school, and fights break out all over the place. People go away in ambulances on a regular basis.
