Facebook COO and “Lean In” author Sheryl Sandberg is spearheading a campaign to “ban bossy” as a descriptor for girls who show leadership skills. Beyonce, Jane Lynch, Condoleezza Rice and Education secretary Arne Duncan have all signed on to help. But is this program such a good idea? Does it unnecessarily promote sheltering girls from criticism? Is it political correctness run amok? And what does “leadership” really mean in this context anyway? Isn’t telling people not to use the word “bossy” a little, well, bossy?
Our panel discusses these and other pertinent questions surrounding this high profile campaign.
