“Is the casting of “The Fantastic Four” secretly one of Doctor Doom’s nefarious plots?
Within minutes of the bombshell reports that Fox has found its titular superheroes in the Fantastic Four reboot, naysayers flamed on social media to pick apart the reported selections of actors Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan (Human Torch) and Jamie Bell (The Thing).
Complaints ranged from the good points (Teller’s track record of one-liner spewing parts is a poor fit for the super-serious Reed Richards) to the bad (Mara isn’t blond) to the ugly (Jordan is not Caucasian like the character in the comics).
Assuming all four are on board — since only Jordan and Mara have officially confirmed their commitments — the presumed casting at the very least shows director Josh Trank is not reverential about the original source material created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961.”* Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick?! TYT Sports), Gina Grad (The Gina Grad Show) and Jarrett Sleeper (Totally Clevver) break it down on The Young Turks.

First of all his name is Johnny Storm and not Johnny Fire. I can see you all did so much research into this story. Just another case of people screaming “Racist” before knowing the facts. Make all of the Fantastic 4 black for all we really care, but keep the continuity. Understanding that John and Sue are blood siblings is something that a RESPONSIBLE reporter would have know, not just saying that nerds are racist. Also, one of the reasons that a lot of people relate to many of the Marvel and some of the DC superheros is because many of them were normal people before they were superheros. Once they became superheros they still faced many of the same problems, especially for “geeks” and “nerds” was alienation – probably because they were being called racist for standing up for something as simple as keeping a story line and blood line.
This entire story was just irresponsible journalism.
What is with this fat broad and why does she not understand the concept of casting for THE ROLE?
I wouldn’t cast Mila Kunis to play her.
Johnny Storm is a White, blond haired blue eyed valley dude looking guy.
The fact that you want it to reflect the source material doen’t make you a racist.
Personally, The only reason I have a problem with the casting choice for Johnny Storm is the fact that Johnny Storm and Sue Richards are siblings.
Kate Mara and Michael B. Jordan don’t, In my honest opinion, make very convincing siblings. Thats really the only Issue I have. If they were to go the extra step and say that one or the other was adopted, then.. Thats fine.. I just don’t see myself believing they are blood siblings.
I totally concur with Rizalee. Johnny and Sue are supposed to be brother and sister. I am also rather bothered by the idea that I am a racist because I think that siblings should be the same color unless they give a reason such as adoption or different parent.
The issue doesn’t exactly come from him being black. That’s all fine and dandy. The issue stems from him not being the same race as his sister Sue Storm (Kate Mara). They are blood siblings, so it’s hard for fans to wrap their heads around how one can be black and one can be white. If they cast Sue Storm as a black actress then we would be fine with this, but at the moment it’s about continuity.
As far as Donald Glover being Spiderman, there is a series where one exists. http://www.4thletter.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/ultimatespiderman1variant.jpg
