Great Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, a conservative, has expressed a willingness to raise the nation’s minimum wage even beyond the rate of inflation. Yet in the US, conservatives remain foursquare against raising the federal minimum wage. So what’s the difference? What will it take for the GOP to come to the table and agree to a living wage for the millions of Americans who work but still can’t keep themselves out of poverty?
