A bill filed by Rep. Mike Turner (R-Edmond) proposes throwing marriage out all together in Oklahoma. He says it’s an attempt to keep same-sex marriage illegal in Oklahoma while satisfying the U.S. Constitution.
Watch a clip of Rep. Turner propsing his idea in the video.
Do you think this is just a political stunt to gain attention or could this actually be something Oklahoma considers?

Ultimately what it comes down to is a question of what is the purpose of modern marriage. And as mentioned, this has changed quite significantly over the past few centuries. Today I think many people would agree that marriage is no longer about economics or politics; it’s more about love and sex and children and other rather personal reasons. Marriage is no longer a communal decision, but a personal one.
So, the question is, does the government have any business being involved in such issues? Does the government have any right to say who I can love? Who I can have sex with? Who I can raise children with? And the answer to that must be a resounding NO. The government has no business in these things, and many on the *left* have been calling for YEARS for exactly what Rep. Turner has proposed.
Sounds great to me.
