George Zimmerman is back in the news – this week he was arrested and charged with yet another domestic assault, this time on his latest girlfriend, who claims he shattered her glass table, pointed a shotgun at her and locked her out of her own house.
Is this an unexpected twist in the Zimmerman saga? Has his acquittal in the Trayvon Martin killing led him to believe he’s above the law? Or is George Zimmerman just a symptom of larger societal problems involving race, privilege and domestic abuse?

Zimmerman is the price we have chosen to pay for having a legal system that requires the government to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty.
