NY Times article about how college women are embracing the hookup culture rather than looking to settle down.  A couple was caught on tape having sex on the BART in Northern California. A disturbing video surfaced of a Korean woman being abused at a club by three men on tape. The reaction to the video is just as bothersome.  Kanye West teams up with a clothes designer to develop a line of clothes that includes a white t-shirt for $120.  Boy Scouts is banning its overweight scouts from the annual Jamboree event.  Ana has mixed feelings on this.  A 5 year old little girl was kidnapped and saved by a couple of teenaged boys that tracked the abductor down.  McDonald’s created a spreadsheet for expenses their employees should follow in order to make the money stretch from paycheck to paycheck.  The results are astounding.  Cenk doesn’t blame McDonalds, while Ana goes off on their pay plan.

  3. If McDonald’s gave their all their profits back to their employees, then each employee would get an increase in their hourly wage of between $1.47/hr to $2.94/hr (*). This means that a full-time minimum-wage worker would increase their yearly salary from $15,080 to $18,137 – $21,195. This doesn’t sound like much of an increase given that McDonald’s made $5.5 billion; however, McDonald’s has 1.8 million employees (Wikipedia). For McDonald’s to get close to giving a livable wage to their employees, they would need to increase the price of the meals.
    * I assumed the average number of hours worked were between 20 and 40, and all employees were getting minimum wage.

  5. That McDonalds expense list didn’t include FOOD. Do they expect their employees to steal it from work?

  6. Agree with Ana. I like hooking up but I also very much like being in a relationship and having that partner on whom you can rely and whose company you really enjoy. But that’s me.

  7. I think the venereal disease they picked up from those nasty BART seats is punishment enough. I don’t think I could get it up on one of those things!
