You guys come off as complete IDIOTS when it comes to Federal Economics !!! STEAL SS, lol lol… LEARN MMT !!! TYT is becoming a laughing stock simply because you don’t understand Fed Econ !!! LEARN MMT !!!
Your post is a laughing stock.
Hi friends.
Cenk, thanks for mentioning you were on Washington Journal. I just looked up your interview. I think you did a great job. Too bad about the Trump supporters who kept calling in and refused to listen to facts or reason, but just spouted the propaganda they have been fed. Ana I hope to see you Washington Journal sometime too.
Cenk, STOP saying, “Let us whisper of a dream.”
Everytime you use that phrase, the opposite of what you’re dreaming about, seems to happen.
It always brings bad news & bad luck to Progressives & the country, in general.
I know that is superstitious & unreasonable, BUT…
It’s almost like a boomerang/opposite day prediction.
Whenever you say it, I cringe.
Progressives winning primaries, JDs in Congress, progressive ideas becoming mainstream, Senators besides Bernie proposing progressive legislation. Yeah, you’re right, nothing good is happening with progressives…
On a non-sarcastic note; yes, it is superstitious and unreasonable.
Apparently Alex Jones, nor his viewers have ever seen Jurassic Park. Frogs changing their gender due to the lack of an opposite sex in the wild was a plot point of the movie. This happens in real life as well. Unless Alex Jones is down there hand verifying the frogs genders, I’m not sure any of them know what they are talking about. Life finds a way.
Donald Trump has gotten away unscathed or slightly scathed for every crime he’s ever committed for decades. I think it’s more likely than not that that pattern will continue.
Promoting the water-is-turning-the-frogs-gay conspiracy theory *is* dangerous. This is not fun and games.
This goes for all conspiracy superstitions. This is an active undermining of scientific literacy and trust, specifically, and critical thinking in general. They think this is an actual scientific conclusion. That is 100% false. When scientist say it isn’t true, the conclusion is that those scientists are lying — they can’t be trusted about this or anything else. When we say the tax cuts will undermine education? We’re just lying — we’re corrupt and wanting to suckle from the gravy train of entitlements. When we say that climate change is real and people will die? We’re lying — everything is fine and we’re just fear mongering ideologues.
It also undermines an understanding of the world that leads to conclusions that are specifically harmful to individuals. If you really believe that there are chemicals in the water that make frogs gay, then why wouldn’t that not apply to humans, too? Gay people aren’t gay because that’s how humans exist naturally, it’s a because of the chemicals! Dontcha know? Being gay is entirely unnatural! But if it’s an unnatural state imposed on people through teh evils of chemistry… then shouldn’t it be treatable? This is a deeply dangerous way of thinking.
Plus, where did those chemicals come from? The answer is (of course!) big scary govermit. It’s the evil swamp of DC trying to destroy the American people and indoctrinate them in SF liberalism! See, you just can’t trust government. It works against us and therefore must be stopped. Those entitlement programs? Yeah, our money being used for evil.
This is not merely fun and games that Jones is engaged it. It is insidious and destructive and a threat to a informed citizenry, a prerequisite for a healthy, civilized democracy.
The hysteria over child separation has to end as if ONLY Trump did it. Obama did it, and Hillary couldn’t wait to do it via bombs and sanctions in the Middle East. In fact, as Secretary of State, Clinton starved hundreds of thousands of children in Libya and Yemen. Trump is an evil maniac, but so are the rest. Cry me a river about the few hundred kids separated from their parents. It’s something, but it’s nothing as compared to the rest of what Trump and previous presidents have done and are doing.
Not to mention that we murder 150 BILLION+ animals per year for cancer-causing meat and dairy.
Cenk — why are you being such a dick to Ana on “hello everybody”?
Social Security could be fix in minutes by taking the cap off. I never hear anyone mention this. You only pay S.S. on a certain amount of income (approximately $128,000). Any amount earned over that amount is not subject to Social Security tax., which makes it a tax on the lower income only , but the wealthy collect it. Removing the cap will bring in more money than S.S. could imagine and would make it solvent forever, a real and simple answer to the problem. WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THIS? I understand why the conservatives don’t mention it but where are the progressives on this issue?
Bernie talked about it back in 2016. It needs to make a comeback
HILARIOUS CNN HOST RIFFS ON TRUTH IS NOT TRUTH

First, on Cohen: I thought Trump “hires the best people”?! Huh…
Second: Thank you TYT for leading with the attacks on Social Security. We have to find a way to stop these a-holes from paying for their stupid tax cut by cutting entitlements that Americans have payed into and EARNED!
Last thought: “Gay frogs” might be a slur that’s come to be taken literally (perhaps even by Alex Jones) as “frogs” was a derogatory term in for French people (that has fallen out of use lately) and some people also used to say that the French were all gay – put the two together and you get “gay frogs”. If it’s actually happening in a lab, fine – but it may just be hate in disguise.
An intellectual debate with a couple who think chemicals make frogs gay.
Yeah right.
Why is Cenk defending these people? These are Zombies who will literally do what the dear leader who thinks on their behalf tells them to do, they are dumb dumbs, idiots and frankly mentally disabled.
On Entitlement reform segment:
1. For the umpteenth time, Glass-Steagall repeal had nothing to do with what happened in 2008, on the contrary, Glass-Steagall repeal is what made the 2007-2008 recession much less painful. Without it Bank of America could have never been able to buy Merrill Lynch and Bear Stearns would have never been bought by JP Morgan Chase. Both were much bigger than Lehman. The repeal also made possible much of the stimulus and emergency Fed interferences that saved the even much bigger AIG.
2. TYT should offer some numbers in perspective to show people the truth and what needs to be done. Social Security is rather safe and easy to fix and only began to show a deficit recently but Medicare is a tough one and needs structural reform. Parts of it are indeed unsustainable in their current form while others (Hospital Insurance) are solvent for the next 75 years.
3. On stock buybacks, these are standard corporate tools that are a critical part of corporate financial management. Speculation and stock shorting are what made Lehman fold when it actually had more assets than liabilities. In this current climate of an over-priced stock market, buybacks should be welcomed because they allow investors to flee a market that is over-priced and reduce short selling damage when earnings reports come back with not-so-impressive results.

I’m sorry, I don’t follow. Stock buybacks in themselves are inflating the share prices, that’s the argument. Investors can alsways flee a market by selling their stocks. What am I missing? Would you please go into a little more detail on the mechanics?
Stock buybacks’s affects on share price is not generally inflationary, it is more of a stabilization mechanism:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/stock-buybacks-are-booming-but-share-prices-arent-budging-1531054801
As for fleeing the market, smart people flee when the market is overpriced and stable at the peak of the cycle (which is the current state of the stock market) not when the market is in a free fall. When the market is in a free fall you buy not sell.
Those who bought stocks in December 2008 are 4 times richer now. Those who sold their 401ks in the same month are ruing the day they heard about 401ks.
you’re engaging in a little subterfuge with this statement on Glass-Steagall. It’s true that most of the financial institutions who ended up failing and having to be bought out or collapse were never commercial banks, and thus were never under the jurisdiction of Glass-Steagall keeping Investment Banks and Commercial Banks separated. However, the repeal of GS did lead to banks growing in size which allowed them more money to invest in the mortgage backed derivatives markets which did create a bigger splash when that market collapsed. Also, the banks that didn’t fail were also in those markets, and many of them WERE part of commercial banking. Their not failing doesn’t remove that history of their association with commercial banking. And of course some that failed, like WaMu, were involved in both and would not have been allowed to do that, had Glass-Steagall not been neutered in 1999. And were those banks not able to gobble up the failing banks, that would have been a good thing. Instead, the Federal Government should have given money to the original asset holders, not the banks, bringing the value of the asset backed derivatives back up in value without making millions lose their homes.
I must comment on the “gay frogs” thing that Alex screamed about: there are pesticides (maybe I’m thinking herbicides?) that have the effect of turning male amphibians into female ones. Not gay, AFAIK.
Then there’s the trouble with older birth control pills that contained more oestrogen: the female hormone tends to be excreted into urine unmetabolised, so that oestrogen gets into river waters and oceans near river deltas. So fish that would have been male are exposed to female hormones during incubation, and thus are either female or hermaphroditic.
Those are familiar issues, some of which have been or are being dealt with. Birth control pills contain far less hormones, and different hormones. Certain pesticides (and herbicides) have been banned because of their effect on nature. Of course, Dumbo is ripping up these sane regulations, so that Americans can be poisoned freely again by their megacorporations. Alex Jones for some reason doesn’t tell his listeners that. The moron!!
And I have zero fucks left to give what supporters of President Dementia feel like upon being called racists and idiots. If you’re not actively opposing Dumbo’s policies, you are a racist who agrees with him!!
Ana/Cenk I have been watching for a while now and have been so mad about how the message of health care for all is a joke to some people, I currently have great insurance but am currently disabled and not sure where things will go now.. and this stuff scares the ^%^%@ outta me!!!
It’s worse than you think. They want to get rid of social security and medicare entirely. That is why they want Brett Kavanaugh as he “will interpret the constitution” accurately according to Trump. They are trying to use the 10th amendment to say the New Deal is unconstitutional.

‘The federalist Society… are pretty much the (?federal?) power for the legal right-wing and they have spent four decades trying to nurture and promote and advance a right-wing ideology about the constitution and about the courts and they really gained tremendous power. And with Trump’s nominees to the appeals court and the supreme court they are really kind of reaching the pinnacle of their influence and I think most Americans really don’t have a grasp on what it means when these folks have these judges as constitutionalist conservatives or conservative constitutionalists, which is their favorite phrase these days. These folks want to go back to before the new deal. They are not just about overturning Roe v Wade… They think that the New Deal and even before the Progressive Reforms sort of broke the constitution…and they want to use the 10th amendment and their originalism to reverse much of what the federal government does now and to reverse the whole 20th century safety net. Not only the administrative state, which a lot of the see as unconstitutional which protects Americans from abuse of corporate power and health and worker safety and all kinds of ways but also just the fact that they think that the 10th amendment doesn’t give the government the authority to do things like Social security and Medicare. They know that they don’t have the political (?civility?) to roll those things back so they’ve been building the power with the federal judiciary and on the supreme court to start having all those kind of programs declared unconstitutional…They think that Roe v wade was not legitimately decided… they think there’s no right to privacy in the constitution….’
Peter Montgomery
And I will add Pence is in charge of the space force/ space fence that is currently being used against us and is to be expanded. We have no privacy now. Kavanaugh will just seal the deal. They have stolen the supreme court. They have melted the arctic. They are total complete, corrupt polluters/murderers and should not be our leaders. Get them all out of office and stop this supreme court nominee.
To our military: Disobey any orders to conduct nuclear suicide. Don;t become a Eric Price robot. Eric is trying to make the afghan army into robots. He will try to make a robot army to fight his pre-planned ‘religious’ armageddon war. Those who want war are the enemies of this tiny planet.
No, Kavanaugh is there for a much much worse role, the Article V interpretation.
Article V has not been court tested before and the Supremes will be the ones to interpret whether the supposed convention, when it is held, is for a single amendment or for multiple amendments.
That is his job.
Playing the role of Common Cause today is Sec~ Republican Troll & Warmonger.
If the Supreme Court invented a right to abortion based on a right to privacy that does not exist in the constitution why is it too far fetched to think Kavanaugh won’t rule on any dispute against Article V convention especially that the uber right winger Republicans told us that they will use any convention to pass multiple amendments instead of the one mandated by the states that passed that single call?
https://fedsoc.org/commentary/publications/counting-to-two-thirds-how-close-are-we-to-a-convention-for-proposing-amendments-to-the-constitution
Wake up from your slumber party.
That being said I am not against an Article V convention, on the contrary I think it would be a great idea to settle many things once and for all and if Progressives plant it right they can dominate the convention or at least reduce any harm from it. Liberals and Progressives must account for all possibilities and dreaming that the republicans are going to do the right thing or that they won’t twist the constitution to their own advantage is naive.
Sec~As a Republican Troll & general Corporate Whore Warmonger, I would think you would love the idea of a slumber party! Lots of War Games & Corporate kool-aid to slurp down!
Why am I not surprised that to YOU, a woman’s right to chose is an “invented” privacy issue.
So you believe a women’s reproductive decisions are NOT PRIVATE? You think it’s a PUBLIC decision?
Wow. Well, I don’t want YOU or the GOVT deciding what goes on in my uterus.
I suppose a right to choose is just another fucking GAME to you, like your being excited by war & weapons since you were a kid. Excellent.
If men could get pregnant, there would be an abortion clinic on every street corner.
Again, playing the part of Common Cause & Patriarchal Govt Shill …is you ;)
First of all I am not a republican and never was.
Second, I strongly support women’s reproductive right including abortion and I am to the left of Cenk and even many women on this issue.
What I alluded to was Roe v. Wade, the decision there was correct but the justification was wrong and a classic case of judicial activism. Cenk by the way agrees and said that multiple times before. Judicial activism is not something new of course but Roe v. Wade was particularly extreme and my point is that Republicans will use Kavanaugh to bend and twist the constitution to make an Article V convention, when challenged in courts, do what they want to do according to the link above.
Sorry if you misunderstood me and hope you will understand.
As for Common Cause, screw them, I only heard about them on TYT and never bothered to follow or support them. My position on Article V is that I support it on the condition that Progressives know what they actually want. One single amendment to take money out of politics won’t solve a damn thing. Europe is far more restrictive when it comes to money and their politics are just as corrupt as those of the US. The US used to be restrictive and they did not give us the EPA until the 70s.
Progressives need a plan B, C, D etc. and must have a clear cut united platform for if, if not when, the Supremes fuck things up and give reigns to the Radical Right. The Right has ALEC, where is the Left’s ALEC?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The fruits of the decades of GOP efforts to degrade public education system in this country have started to rot. In a way, I am sympathetic to these people because they never got the chance to develop a clear and rational mindset.
I think progressive100 might be Alex jones
how can anyone go broke after having $60,000,000 ?
If you don’t see Trump the way we see him, and you show up at his rallies, then the Turks question your value as a human being. That’s what they’re saying.
Good. I’m glad TYT made this clear, about they will view dissenters this time around.
They don’t question your value as a human being. They are judging you as a human being. And so they should.
You’re not immune from people judging you for what you do. You’re not special.
Deal with it.
And Cenk spent a minute saying he had sympathy for Trump supporters and liked some of them. You’re full of shit.
No, I’m not. They’ve denigrated Trump supporters in the past. They’re prepping up for further dehumanizing attutides, when they don’t get their way in the next Election.
This is what having a news media business, does to decent people like Ana. It forces them to engage in cruel, superiority complexes, just to satisfy the sadistic cravings of members like yourself.
The best thing in the world, isn’t the death of Trump. It’s the death of the monetary system, so that there’s no further incentive for Obama or Trump or Clinton or Bush. And no more incentive for news outlets to dump on other human beings, in order to keep the revenue flow.
And no, Ben – you shouldn’t be judging human beings. Only their behavior. People aren’t defined by their mistakes, except in the minds of those who are looking for easy narratives & labels.
Trump will not be taken out of office, he will serve until 2020., please do not get your hopes up. look at it from the special counsel’s perspective: how exactly do you remove the most unstable person from that office safely? you wait until 2020, and take him out when he is hopefully not reelected.
All other options make me question not only if the country will survive, but if large swaths of the human race will survive. Sounds hyperbolic, but you have to recognize that trump is not normal, and he won’t just sit there and take it. We are being held hostage, and trump could care less. the republic, the rules, everyone and everything can go to hell if it doesn’t have the “Trump” name on it. Period.
He doesn’t know how the thing (country, gov, etc) functions, and he couldn’t care less unless it is to his benefit. Do not pin your hopes on them, and continue on fighting the local/state fights.
Progressive100, Trump’s proof the country is not surviving, but declining. Letting him remain in office, as you suggest, encourages imitators and prolongs the oligarchy. Excise the fetid, pus-filled carbuncle on the ass of the American citizenry now!
Studezilla~ love the imagery!
Appears Trump’s pus is oozing all over the US and diseased, swollen buboes (Louie Gohmert is in desperate need of a lancing) are popping up everywhere, leaving a trail of gangrenous-smelling stank straight to D.C.
Don’t worry, DNC-Dems will clean up the mess…jk
C’mon Cenk. Don’t read creepy tweets about Ana. Just let her do her f*ckin job.
Big hunks who know their stuff and have a fantastic sense of humor are my idea of HOT. Yes, that’s you, Cenk
About Trump’s impeachment: This cannot happen, because there is a person, who I care about, who has sooooo much hope vested in Trump and it will be heartbreaking. In a nutshell, Trump is chosen by God as his instrument because Trump is the only one who can do what needs to be done. After Trump succeeds, we will have a non-polluting, eternal energy source and cancer will be cured. These achievements will come from the scientific community but only after Trump’s success.
Does anyone have any insight as to where this false hope comes from? (If it were anyone else, I would call this false hope a delusion.)
I love TYT, but I am getting so afraid of loosing my ability to live that I feel like throwing up when I hear some of these stories. I am on disability and if they cut me off I can’t survive. I feel like I am watching the end of my country’s civilization. Corruption, evil, dick wad ass wipes are destroying democracy and it looks like the beginning of the end. There is nothing I can do to stop it.
Wouldn’t that be a Rico violation?
