  1. Very selective reporting on the “12 yr old hacks the election” story. Why does TYT lend credence to Trump’s notorious media criticism? Shame on you.

“Our main concern with the approach taken by DEFCON is that it utilizes a pseudo environment which in no way replicates state election systems, networks or physical security. Providing conference attendees with unlimited physical access to voting machines, most of which are no longer in use, does not replicate accurate physical and cyber protections established by state and local governments before and on Election Day. ”

      1. The editor left off the last story which was about some Colorado schools cutting back to 4 days due to lack of funding. Hopefully they’ll add it back in and replace this video.

    1. The “first hour” was 75 minutes with the breaks removed. It seems that they just split it in a strange place. They do this pretty frequently.

      1. There is also something missing though because this didn’t reach to the end and people are talking about specific stories.

Just so the TYT people are aware and hopefully no one jumps down their throats over it

  2. Duuude! Your dystopian vision isn’t Russians meddling in the elections? Some script kiddie’s gonna hack into voting machines en masse for LULZ!!!

OMG, a huge–no, a YUUUGE!–part of me *hopes* that’ll happen. For two good reasons. As long as it’s Russian meddling, Trumptard Republicunts aren’t going to lift a finger. But if some kid throws a few Red States into total uncertainty about election results just for lulz, then maybe, just maybe, the Administration will wake up and create SOME kind of semblance of sane regulatory environment for elections.

At the moment, the FEC is in a partisan gridlock where neither party dares take up issue with states because that means the other is going to fuck them up in a state they control. And WTF why is FEC run by political hacks for? They should be run and supervised by FBI and preferably NSA and DHS in cooperation. CIA can go fuck themselves!

Honestly, as someone with a lot of experience in network/computer security (and would betray my species in a heartbeat to aid our robot overlords in their rise to power) we should be:
    • using pencils and paper for voting (to avoid potebtial of disappearing ink)
    • depositing the ballots a locked box
    • ensuring that – from the time the first ballot is cast to the final tally- each ballot box is monitored by representatives for each candidate in the race

Good video on the topic: https://youtu.be/w3_0x6oaDmI

    1. I have a relatively simple solution to voting that would solve both the issue of hacking, as well as the issue of deciphering hard-to-determine votes made by pencil marks or punch cards. Have the voters’ selection of candidates done by machine, so at the end they can see who they voted for and hit a final confirmation button. Then have the machine print out a paper ballot that the voter can look at and verify again that the correct selections are being represented on the ballot. Then the machine votes would be wiped and it would be only the paper ballots that are used in the official vote tally, with them being preserved for as long as it takes to adjudicate disputes and certify winners.

    1. I’ve called out Waldo once a week for the last two weeks (and now a 3rd) for screwing us out of partial or whole segments. Maybe it’s an eleven year old hacking into the TYT servers?

  4. Donald Chump and all his minions treat the US as if it were an elite country club reserved for the rich, white , malevolent members only
