  1. GOLLY FUCKING GOSH I DIDN’T EXPECT TO BE SEEING VAN CLEAVE ON THIS PROGRAM Y’ALL

    I’m a VCU student, and last semester the student paper and poli sci department hosted an “academic discussion” abt gun control. The 3 panelists on the promotional material were: a Ms. Smith, PhD student with a law enforcement background; a Mrs. Haas, from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence; and Augie, a professor who is a libertarian moderate type, but nevertheless I still have a lot of respect for. So I go to the event and guess who’s a surprise panelist? You guessed it, Phil Van Cleave!! And what does he do? You guessed it, he hijacked the entire event and did not shut the fuck up!!! And what did everybody else, on the panel, in the room, do to correct his lies?? You guessed it!!! NOTHING!!!! And he was So Fucking Crazy y’all, he said that there’s no good reason for a 7th grader not to learn in school to shoot, and that the FDA was prohibited from studying the health risks of guns because of “enormous biases,” and that the Australian gun buyback was a blanket failure.
    I walked out before they finished the Q&A (trouble not screaming lol), but needless to say I didn’t miss any keen insights.

What really enraged me is that my university is supposed to be liberal, so they shouldn’t have let their “academic discussion on solving America’s gun crisis” (that was literally the subheading on the poster) turn into an opportunity for a rambling right-wing buffoon (who shouldn’t have even been there, frankly) to spread propaganda.

      Also, went through my messages to find the exact wording: he said the CDC (not FDA, lol, duh) shouldn’t study the effect of guns on public health because of “OVERWHELMING bias.” I’m not on facebook so I don’t know, but the Commonwealth Times (student paper) may have the footage of the whole shitshow, if anyone wants to go looking for it.

      There was a cluster of 70-something-year-old NRA nutsacks in the front row who’d driven over 90 minutes there to support Van Cleave, and they got rowdy when it was announced that the questions where pre-screened because they expected to get their turn on the mic (Like, bitch! You want to get the mic how bout you pay some tuition? Like what the fuck are yo wrinkly asses even doin in my classroom, ya feel me?) AND THAT SHIT AIN’T ACCIDENTAL!!! The right wing always expects to be able to make everything about what THEY think and what THEY want, unchallenged. FUCK THEM. THEY SHOULD NOT EXPECT AN AUTOMATIC INVITE TO EVERY POLITICAL DISCUSSION.

  2. I like seeing these reports out of TYT Investigates. It’s nice to see Cenk mentioning that we paid for them as well. That is, as a group, since members have varied wildly.

  4. Cenk, you mentioned that the DOJ had the goods on Butina since March, but only indicted her now. Hmmm. Why is that? Could it be that her indictment, like those laughable indictments of the GRU officers, was timed to inflict maximum damage to the POTUS as he traveled to meet with a foreign adversary? Could it be that the Permanent State wanted to undermine Trump and ensure that the summit would fail?

    Say it with me: OF COURSE!!!!

    But Cenk, you also failed to mention that since March Butina has been cooperating with Mueller and actually has already given 8 hours of testimony and handed over thousands of documents to the Senate Select Intelligence Committee. Mueller has gotten everything he needs from her, so he threw her away and turned her over to DOJ for indictment – as I said, just in time to hobble Trump in Helsinki.

    Klassy.

    The govt indictment references two emails: one from March and one from Sept. . It is an extremely weak case, and it seems she was organising dinners between American and Russian students for the purposes of cultural exchange.

    She is the founding member of a Russian Gun Rights group, and her social media feed is full of photos of her with various firearms. She is a gun enthusiast and so she was trying to establish relations with the NRA.

    Cenk, what the govt is charging her with is, essentially, “lobbying without a license”. My God, Cenk, you are usually quick to pick up on just how much for sale our politicians are. Did you think the influence peddling and lobbying is confined only to American citizens? Are you that naive? Hell, the Podesta Group is practically OWNED by the UAE and the Saudis. Even Norway has spent millions in lobbying in DC around energy policy.

    There will be no trial, this will just go away, because Butina has already served her purpose as a pawn in the Deep State’s war on Donald Trump.

    1. And about all those indictments that you rattle off: none of them are about collusion. They are about regular corruption. Flynn lied about talking with Russians, but it was to convince the Russians to vote against the Obama Administration in the UN on an issue concerning ISRAEL.

      Manafort’s crimes date back years if not decades and have nothing to do with the 2016 race.

      The indictments of the 13 IRA troll farmers has been handed off to lower level prosecutors after one of them actually showed up in court to demand a speedy trial and discovery, and Mueller could not produce one shred of evidence to support the charges.

      The latest indictments of the 12 GRU officers is laughable because it’s obvious that, having been burned by one of the defendants in the troll farm indictments, Mueller wanted to choose victims that he KNEW would never be able to defend themselves in court.

      There is still no evidence, Cenk. #RussiaGate is still a farcical hoax, and all that the latest indictments prove is that it’s even easier to indict a ham sandwich if it has Russian dressing on it.

      I only hope America comes to its senses before WWIII starts. Cenk, you say “liberals don’t like war” but that is NOT the case. The liberals have literally been screaming for war or 2 years.

  5. Love your show, and am a member. But I’m concerned about this Toying With Conservatives segment. The sync between the spoken word and the video on each of the conservatives you show is way, way out of whack, which implies that it isn’t a synching problem at all, but an overlay of a separate audio track on each, meaning it looks fake. I’m surprised you didn’t point this out in the segment. This hurts your credibility, and that of TYT, an organization I support with urgency.

  12. Maybe it’s just me, but I found the Sacha Cohen segment ONLY horrifying, not funny. Why? Because the Trump presidency has taught me a lot of things we thought could never happen and could be joked about COULD HAPPEN. Anyone else here watch SNL? During the elections I like many other people watched and mocked Trump when he guest hosted it but now I’m ashamed… I should have been running through the streets of every city begging people to be VERY worried and to help get out the vote. Now our Constitution is being used as f’ing TOILET PAPER and I was complicit and stupid… I don’t have hope anymore – hope hurts.

  13. Great selection of stories. I hope that TYT will cover other stories that arent covered by the MSM. It is a great way to set yourselves apart from other news outlets.

    1. I think they tend to find a good balance. Unfortunately, Trump is the president so they have to cover certain things which inevitably will overlap with the MSM but they also cover a LOT of things MSM will never cover. I mean, just yesterday, they devoted the second half of their show to covering the CEOsvsWorkers town hall. I didn’t watch any MSM yesterday, but I would find it very surprising if they spent more than 30 seconds talking about Trump shutting down the healthcare database.

  17. I would like to see the part of the Hillary-Trump debate where she says to Trump (about Putin) “Of course Putin wants you elected he wants a puppet”! (Something to that effect.) Trump responds like a five year old with” No, you’re the puppet”. We need to see that again.
