  1. I never realized that the sub tip wages means that if tips aren’t going to make up minimum wage, there’s no incentive for the server to be decent. A good tip isn’t going to the waiter.

    1. There is an incentive. To make more than minimum wage. Minimum wage is not a livable wage, so if they want a reasonable apartment/life, they have to be good waiters/waitresses.

  2. I get that people and countries should honour agreements but I feel like the US wants to spread their poison of spending more money on weapons than on their people and infrastructure. It is disgusting the US tellling Germany, where people have healthcare and education etc, to spend more money on buying weapons from his friends like the US does when that might make them cut important and actually humanistic things and be more like the US. I hope the US having this creature as a president will at least help make the rest of the world, especially more reasonable and mature countries in Europe, and the new left in Latin America, finnally turn their back on the bully US. “Leader of the free world”, dumb arrogant wankers.

    1. I dont mean to insult people in the US, I know a lot are great and I watch this show , i just mean the current government and in some ways all previous ones and that attitude that they should run the world

      1. I’m sure most of us who are Turks fans understood what you meant sofimay :)
But then, I just joined. Do they get any far right trolls posting on the Turks sites?

  3. Yes, Ana, Feinstein is awful.
And Cali continues to elect REPUBLICAN (and that is what Feinstein & Kamala are) senators, in a state that is suppose to be so liberal? Don’t even talk about Progressive, Cali isn’t even LIBERAL!

  4. Great job corralling progressives behind the neoliberal agenda, TYT! There was no debate on whether or not Nato countries should contribute 2% of their GDP to defense contractors, it’s expected they will. Good job! Fuck social programs! Let’s keep the war industry going! Lefties would argue that less money should go to defense contractors. Not neoliberal TYT though!

  5. Hello from Germany!
Here is a part of an article from “Süddeutsche Zeitung” (Germany) from April 24th 2017.
The requirement is, that NATO (except the USA) would spend 2% of the GDP (german BIP).
    It was translated by “Google”.
“Together, NATO would spend $ 962 billion instead of $ 881 billion in 2016. That’s more than the rest of the world invested in defense together – 57 percent of global military spending. Germany would be the fourth largest military investor in the world in this scenario; in fact, it is in ninth place with about $ 41 billion.”

Bill Maher said, I think 6 month ago, that 50% of US Military spending would be o.k..

You can also calculate the expenditure if the US would only spend 2%. The expenditure (in NATO)would fall.

  6. The goal since 2010 was to push russia out of europe and stop their ability to sell energy to anyone, Obama wanted to have a monopoly on selling gas to europe, and forced E.U to reject gazprom or demand privatization of the gazprom pipelines. Trump is just doing an old american move, to wedge themselves between russia and europe.

  7. I have a question unrelated to the show: Is it racist for a White person to call an African American an “uncle tom”? Back when Kanye West revealed that he was a Trump supporter that does apologetics for slavery, I called him an Uncle Tom, so a [white] Libertarian guy I know went on a rant on how it is the equivalent to calling a black person a “house nigger”. I never heard anyone other than him say this, so I assumed he was a right wing hack making shit up (as usual), but I thought I would bring it up on here. What do you guys think?

    1. Short answer: Ehhhh.

I can’t see uncle tom being as bad as saying house nigger, even though they both do mean the same thing, and both those things mean sell out. Whether that’s true can be argued as its own subject, same as a woman being a mere housewife who washes clothes, keeps a clean house and has dinner ready for her man being a sell out if it makes her happy. There are some who would say that no one has the right to comment on how anyone of any different race or gender lives their life in the context of whether they properly represent that race or gender.

I personally say that they’re going to do what they do, and so am I, including on commenting on it should the subjects arrive. I feel that voicing and not voicing opinions on this exact subject are equally harmful, and only the degrees of harm will vary, making the actual term of harm changeable to others, such as destructive, mild, rascist, harmless, effective, weak, powerful, etc.

I would use the term sell out, which again means the same things, and I would quantify it with punk ass, which would all comment on his behaviour in relationship to his race…which will always be a degree of racism. It’s up to personal taste to decide what degree you find acceptable, and own it and sell it if desired. If we’re here, we all know that everyone has their opinions, and they’ll never match everyone else’s.

      1. “There are some who would say that no one has the right to comment on how anyone of any different race or gender lives their life in the context of whether they properly represent that race or gender.”

I think those people have no idea what they are talking about. If an African American defends slavery, then I am definitely going to judge him and call him a “sell out”, or an “uncle tom” (although I’m still not decided about the latter.

“It’s up to personal taste to decide what degree you find acceptable, and own it and sell it if desired.”

This is where I disagree, I don’t think it’s my choice. I think the African American community has the right to decide whether or not this is acceptable. And every Black friend/acquittance I asked said it was okay, but I’m still not 100% sure if I should use the term. The only person I have heard complain was a *racist* libertarian guy.

Thank you for your input, and I apologise for responding so late.

    2. No.

If a black man acts like an uncle tom he brought it upon himself.

Plus Uncle Tom has expanded to mean masochist subservients regardless of race, like the masses of Uncle Tom commentators in British tabloids over the last two days supporting Trump’s comments.

  8. Omg when I first saw the boat pic I thought it was the boat Buchanan bought. Then they zoomed out to the mothership!

Being Devil’s advocate here couldn’t conservatives just say that making this boat involved lots of jobs and its an example of Buchanan trickling down on everyone else? Its not just the Yacht-makers but all the subcontractors and vendors in their supply chain. That could easily end up being thousands of jobs.

  9. What are the 7 states that banned sub-minimum wages? Could not find a maintained list anywhere and wanted to know which 43 states I should be vigilant about not subsidizing restaurant owners.
