FYI… those are rally actors….
Great panel.
I can’t stand to look at trump for 7 seconds let alone 70 minuets, I just get the urge to punch him in the face every time I see him (not that I would as I don’t like violence). Why do these people think that they are so bloody superior to everyone else? It makes me sick, we are all equal, and just in case you’re wondering I’m a milk bottle white Scottish wifey albeit with the nice weather we are having I’m now a slightly pink Scottish wifey.
On the healthcare and racial profiling stories:
I’ve said this before but I think it bears repeating. How much longer do the 1% and the people in power think they can continue to push people to the edge and think that it won’t come back to bite them in the rear? The crippling debt, police brutality with little to no justice, low stagnant wages coupled with rising costs of living, horrible unaffordable healthcare that drives people into debt/bankruptcy, blatant racism and hate crimes, all just keep stoking the flames of mass anger in the population. How much longer do the elites think that kind of status quo can continue before there’s massive civil unrest? Anyone who has ever cracked open a history book ought to know where that sort of status quo can lead. That’s not a threat; that’s simply a statement of fact which history teaches us, and no country is exempt.
In the early 1930’s this country was extremely close to revolution because people were being pushed over the brink economically and socially. That revolution was prevented by the administration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his New Deal reforms. Unless another FDR-like figure comes along in the future, there’s a good possibility that this country will see massive unrest. Again, if you look at history you’ll discover that you can’t just brutalize a nation of people indefinitely, because sooner or later people will want to remove the boot that’s on their neck. That’s not a threat, it’s a historical fact about human nature.
My wife showed me the pool incident video that night, and it wasn’t until it blew up the next morning we realized it went down two miles from our home.
I’ve since read many comments from people who think he did nothing wrong at all, so this is where we are as a country, and it was somewhat benign compared to what many are going through.
The guy is dealing with a lot of consequences, so although it’s still abhorrent so many feel the way he does, perhaps seeing the results will deter some from acting on their prejudices.
Totally disagree on the women and men kissing debate. When will TYT understand that women and are different? Women shouldn’t decide what men are comfortable with, and men shouldn’t decide what women are comfortable with. Yes, you shouldn’t kiss women without consent, because they feel violated by it. Men on the other hand do not care if they get kissed by a women in a gest like what happened in the video. For men it’s not a big deal. So I humbly ask women to kindly let the men speak for themselves, and do not enforce their views on men.
I think you’re guilty in doing exactly what you’re accusing the women of. You say “Women shouldn’t decide what men are comfortable with” but you shouldn’t decide what ALL men are comfortable with. For example, I’m happily married and if some girl came up and kissed me without permission or consent, I absolutely would care. I wouldn’t feel as violated or threatened as when the genders are reversed because of the differences in gender but to say it’s not a big deal is totally wrong. So, in order to prevent that discomfort for anybody, this behavior shouldn’t be tolerated by anybody.
The operative word is PRIOR consent. If you sexually assault someone and afterwards it turns out they didn’t mind, you are still a sexual assaulter, you are just a lucky one.
Consent is not “yes or no”, consent is if someone enjoys something or not. Don’t hurt others is the goal, and sex is hurtful for some mentally because they’ve been taught that it’s bad. For others, they simply don’t like someone so aren’t interested. Sex and nudity need to be accepted, embraced, and legalized so that incidents of the former will be reduced. Studies show as sex is legalized, rape cases decrease.
Go Aida go!
To the pool thing, not only did the guy never stop and think he was wrong he never talks to the woman. Even after the keycard is swiped he keeps going but only speaks to the police that man is just… hateful
I do think it’s good that the police controlled the situation but I think they could have pushed back. I think they could have demanded the man’s keycard or once everything was settled turned to the guy and laid into him a little. I am not completely satisfied with how they handled this. They could have said something to him about wasting their time and not using them as a service for “I’m uncomfortable because a black person is here.” Also to those that think there should be fines in many states there are laws on the books that allow for penalties for things like this. They are rarely used because they don’t want people to stop calling the cops (which I get) but this is a perfect time to use it. But even if they don’t go that far, the cops could have handled the situation and then confronted the man.
Great panel all four of you are amazing!
On the topic of the male reporter being kissed on the cheek.
I understand (have been in many of situations helping customers or my employees and their hugs last just a little too long) the awkwardness of it. But I guess my defense is that it was a football match, energy is high and a couple running by kisses on the cheek don’t warrant a harassment issue. I don’t know. But the dude that put his hand on a breast, no. I will forgive a cheek kiss, but don’t put hands on a person.
What a fantastic line-up all day, especially the TYT women! …but serious love for all our hosts and what they bring.
I’m transgender and I want Jason Carton to STFU, seriously. He added nothing to this power panel for me, why not just keep Brooke around for the 2nd hour and have the ladies of TYT lead us?! TYT has AWESOME female talent, including Grace (the most loving person I’ve ever witnessed), Kim (one of the smartest and strongest women in media, who really delivered an A+ this hour), Aida (who is never afraid to bring the fire and passion when it’s needed, and great jokes when it’s not), and Brooke in hour one (whom I can’t think of a single negative comment I’ve seen from any member posts), and then we have Jason. Why? Why do we have Jason? I get that it’s hard to be a gay man of color, but in many cases (and these stories today) it’s harder to be a woman. If he was funny or smart or experienced or SOMETHING then of course I’d support him but he’s not so I really don’t know. Every person on the panel this hour had a very powerful argument to make for us and then we get to Jason and it’s “milk toast”. Anyway, that’s my rant for the day, have a great weekend folks!
PS- Does anyone know when Cenk and/or Ana are and when they’ll be back?
I dont care when they’re back, much as I enjoy them as a duo, as i prefer the variety of new talent that takes over when they’re away.
John has been nailing hour one, with more Brett which is always welcome and much deserved screen time for Jayar. Grace & Kim also deserve more time on the main show…
…. And where’s francis Maxwell. I’m not fully on board with bashing Jason, as I’m sure he needs time to develop his potential, and is probably scared half to death of dying a death on that panel of strong powerful women who make it look easy; but Francis would have been a far better choice for that seat IMHO.
And is Jimmy officially banned from the main show or is he boycotting it?….
AGREE!
As I understand it Jimmy Dore is banned from the main show because of just how polarizing his views are, but I could be wrong.
I figured both Jimmy just didn’t want to do the main show as much anymore because of how much he gets paid with TYT, and that Jimmy’s no-holds barred opinions do not mesh easily with the core of TYT’s audience/hosts. He was on the main show about a month ago with Cenk, both making fun of how he was ‘banned’.
They said they would be back on Monday.
Good deal, thank you :-)
OMG I know I’ve said it before but I love Aida! She is a force to be reckoned with and so spot on about each issue.
I’ve also just started listening to her podcast Truth Serum & love it as well.
Aida is great, I’d love her to have her own show on the network if she doesn’t already! Aida is so very real and genuine and has not had an easy life (I’m not implying anyone else on the panel hasn’t) and she’s not afraid to speak out, which is awesome. Please have her back soon TYT :-)
Aida is one of the worst simply because she constantly only focuses on minorities even when the issue being discussed affects everyone or other groups too. Most everyone gets it that various minority groups have it the hardest, so any issues are extra hard for them, but leaving out certain groups who are affected by something is exclusive and can be seen as divisive and uncaring. She should instead try to be inclusive of everyone by including all those affected by whatever issues. Treat problems as something everyone needs to work together to resolve.
Something is off with this story.
Medicaid will cover everything if she was poor and had no insurance and Massachusetts has one of the most extensive coverage and generous and The fire fighting service doesn’t charge for saving people’s lives nor does the Ambulance Service in an emergency case.
Where do you get this information? A loved one who lives in Mass needs surgery and Medicaid will only pay 80%, granted that is a lot but when you live on Social Security the 20% is next to impossible to come up with. Her doctor doesn’t even take her secondary insurance.
As far as ambulance services are concerned when my brother suffered a heart attack, he received enormous bills for not only the ambulance but the medi-vac helicopter as well, why do you think people try to drive themselves to the ER instead of calling an ambulance, it isn’t because they enjoy it. My son drove himself to the hospital during a heart attack because he couldn’t afford the ambulance.
If you aren’t paying for these things, I want to live in your world.
This is not true. Medicaid does NOT cover everything and very few insurances period cover ambulances.
Us Brits have just been celebrating all this week, the 70th anniversary of our (NHS)
National Health Service !!
A bankrupt country after WWII created the best and cheapest health care system in the world, we have our own right wing neocons trying to stealth privatise it.
But we stand firm and would kick out ant government that tried to remove it !!!
Aida Rodriguez, you are phenomenal, so eloquent and succinct. I wish I could speak half as well as you do. Please post more “I’ll say it for you” videos on YouTube. You have a powerful message and are a powerful messenger, I want to share you more with the world. I really hope that you will make videos in support of Justice Democrats and as always keep saying it the way it is.
I always like Grace. She’s really good at this.
Grace is a natural – always comes off super confident, cheerful, and actually fluffs her reading less than Ana!
Grace is amazing, and she’s loving and kind and everything a TRUE, REAL Christian should be if they actually good people – she’s classy and I’m so glad she’s at TYT!
Do you like her show “Murder With Friends”?
I do because it’s so original and she has great guests on it, but some episodes I do skip because the topics can be so grizzly that they affect me too much (I’ve got major depression & anxiety disorder).
Everyone Skychco has complained about every video that Tyt does for almost a year. I really think this person and a few others are right_wing trolls trying to stop us progressives.
Aida Rodriguez, I always enjoy having you on the panel. Today, you were especially amazing. Just because you are a woman does not mean you do not have insight. Just because you are brown does not mean you do not have insight. Just because you are a comedian does not mean you do not have insight. Because you are all these things means you have insight. Thanks for sharing.
Here, here! I really love Aida’s way of cutting through the BS and boiling the issues down to the core so that if someone still “doesn’t get it” they don’t want to. She is such a strong voice that I really do think she needs to be on the show at a minimum of two days a week.
So could Jason Carter STFU? I grasp that we are all part of the revolution, but we are not all gay and we don’t want to show off those stereotypes. Thanks for portraying that shit. Thanks in advance for crying about homophobia. Trust me, I’m eons beyond your bull shit. Attack me as some troglodyte, and all you are doing is turning lefties against the ridiculous left coast. That will help, because LA liberals are not the lefties of the country. The east coast make up a huge majority of the left. We matter, and we don’t waste our days wondering whether it matters if a trans role goes to a straight person. Hence, STFU! No one care and you are actually hurting the left.
If you have a point, I sure as hell can’t tell what it is.
WTF? I’m so confused.
Hey, man, do you want some soup with all that saltiness you just spewed toward Jason Carter? These people have opinions, they have agendas, they have their own personal reasons for what they say and do. Being gay means you have insight into that lifestyle and therefore would have more to say concerning being homosexual and the issues that affect them. Are you going to get up on Aida Rodriguez for the fact that she talks about African American issues more often? Are you going to whine and complain when Brett Urlich or John Iadarola talk about issues that affect white americans? What you just said is demeaning. You should be ashamed of yourself. We are all part of the revolution, as you stated, so whining about the fact that someone with innate knowledge of a certain topic speaks about that topic at length shines an unflattering light on you and on the entirety of our movement. So, please, as the old adage goes, “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
Maybe you STFU
Maybe you need to move on and stop trying to control others when you, obviously can’y even control yourself. No room for homophobic simpletons like you who just don’t get it and no amount of exposure to the progressive ideals this network espouses will change your thinking. I know, I know. I should just STFU because YOU say so. Too fucking bad, you need to vacate the premises you right wing TROLL!
Just another right wing snowflake who’s triggered by a gay who doesn’t hide it like Pence does.
Did you just attack Jason Carter for being too gay? Because that’s all I am getting from this and if so YOU are the one that needs to stfu
