I realized over time that the people who say it can’t be done is the people who don’t have the vision or the talent to carry out the vision.
I never saw Rubin say anything intelligent on TYT. When there was a TYT video on Rubin’s last day. I remember that it was obvious to me, Rubin was not being honest on how he actually felt while working at TYT. Progressives have a BS meter that works.
Where the hell is the poll? I’m 100% with Ana. I normally would NOT support protesting outside of public officials homes, however given the extreme danger to our democracy and citizens I think it’s not just a good idea, but something that needs to happen.
Kenny, one of the messages Cenk read identified we, the people, have to live with the consequences of their deplorable policies, while the policymakers get to go home and enjoy their sheltered lives. That comment added perspective. I agree with you and Ana, too.
Unfortunately, there is potential peril shadowing this approach. Some one could get shot. We all know how fearful Republicans are. Some protester could get overzealous, which would hand the Right a broad brush with which to unjustly paint the Left as unAmerican. Some would use it as justification for passing laws that penalize and criminalize protesters. This isn’t a justification for avoidance; instead, its justification for very careful planning.
On a related note, Representative Ted Lieu (D) played the ProPublica audio of a crying migrant child, who was separated form her parents, knowing the House rules of decorum prohibited such behavior. When Madam Speaker ordered him to stop, he asked why. She told him. Then he asked her to specify the rule. He took every opportunity to delay the inevitable to prolong audio playback. Eventually, the Sergeant of Arms was ordered to stop him. He acquiesced then, but by that time he had made his point. This was an excellent example of passive-aggressive resistance with class. There should be more resistance from the Dems, but you already know that.
Here is a link to CSPAN’s clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K9az4El6YI. Enjoy.
I remember that debate when Dave defended the bombing of Palestinian schools.
That guy has always been a feckless coward.
Damn Ana went off, and I loved it!!!!
Sorry Cenk, I think it’s O.K. to protest public officials at their homes. They weasel their way into our homes through policy so I’m all for pushing the issue even more. Then again I’m a fan of the French Revolution because it was the people taking back their power. A bit bloody but I think some of our elite deserve similar justice. It’s time to actually fight against the 25% who now wield their grotesque power. The Left has the moral high ground, the numbers and the actual power but as always the Left are pussies when it comes to the fight. Isn’t your country worth fighting for? I mean really fighting for.
YOU GO ANA!!!!!! FINALLY CALLING OUT THAT PHONY IDIOT DOUCHE BAG DAVE RUBIN!!! Total respect to Ana for the honesty. This is why I watch TYT!!!
I’m happy to pile on the anti-Dave Rubin train and it was really good to hear an explanation. TYT has been classy about that whole situation. Fuck that guy. I enjoyed the segment because gossip is fun and it’s enjoyable to have a bit of sour grapes and join in the tribal sacrifice.
But I’m not under any illusion that I am owed an explanation for his dismissal or that of any other former TYT employee. There is a danger of getting too attached to podcasters and media figures, such that instead of being about news or entertainment, they become a personality cult. TYT is a media business; it’s perfectly reasonable (and usually ethically correct) for any business not to disclose internal gossip in the public arena. I’m under no illusion that Cenk and co. are “employed” by me and other fellow members.
That piece on Dave Rubin just renewed my entire faith in TYT, and shot my respect for Ana off the charts. FUCKING FINALLY. That was fucking awesome. Thank you, TYT for bringing the truth.
AGREED.
Holy shit, finally a full frontal explanation on the Dave Rubin exit!
Thank you for FINALLY addressing Dave Rubin. He’s dangerously stupid and needs to be exposed.
Queen Ana!
I’m glad you guys did the Rubin/Yiannapolis takedown. IMO it was looong overdue. And there were probably some other things worth mentioning when shitting on Rubin: contradicting his free speech warrior persona by threatening to sue Sam Seder/ Michael Brooks for defamation over a critique, his refusal to debate any progressive pundits, Rubin’s unannounced/unplanned hiatus after the Milo pedophilia scandal blew up, his refusal to address the Milo scandal during the Lauren Southern interview immediately after his hiatus, his support for universal healthcare and his withdrawal of support for UH after the Kochs’ found out etc etc
Protest outside of our country’s house, The White House. What is supposed to be Trump’s current home.
Lots of people here surprised about what happened with Dave Rubin despite the fact that the writing on the wall was always there to see especially after Gaza 2014.
The guy was a sellout from the very beginning and he sold out to the highest bidder.
Check out the big brains on you. No one is surprised about Dave Rubin. The surprise is that TYT finally talked about it.
Thanks for finally addressing the giant Ruben in the room.
I can’t wait until you address the Wes Clark Jr incident!
I’ve been wondering if they will address the Wes Clark Jr thing, but maybe it would be best if they didn’t since it seems to involve like a mental health issue. It’s just a sad situation.
I am still having issues with the TYT analysis of the right wing. It’s still not scientific and dispassionate enough.
The reason we are descending into fascism worldwide is because there are too many people using too much energy and minerals and leaving too much waste about while breeding uncontrollably. We are fouling our own nest, collectively, as a species. This overrunning of the environment is the disorganized behavior of a sick collective organism. We are all part of the problem and collectively responsible for the solution also.
The stress of a growth-oriented economy enclosed by a finite physical boundary is poisoning people with their own cortisol from the overcrowding, as well as the direct poisoning from the environmental waste and decimation of wildlife i.e. the direct attack on life itself that our disproportionate reproductive success as a species implies.
High temperatures are also associated with dry winds full of dust and harmful ions along with dehydration and irritability among local populations that are experiencing the heat.
Global warming directly contributes an environmental stressor of its own to human behavior. The generalized depletion and spoiling of resources also elevates the competition for the remaining resources, so generalized environmental decline is itself a stressor in every aspect.
We are all experiencing the direct deleterious effects of our own reproductive success as a species, as it feels from inside the mental status of our own increasingly addled brains.
The right wing is merely the most traumatized and brainwashed among us. We should rightly pity them as they act out violently, rather than condemning them. We need to handle them carefully, like distressed people in need of psychiatric intervention, because they are exactly that
The sensitizing stress preconditioning of a violent patriarchal upbringing complete with baffling religious moral hypocrisy makes the right wing confused, easily aroused, and readily provoked. This Trumpism/fascism is the voice of collective PTSD we are hearing, from the mouths and touch screens and videos of those least constitutionally prepared to withstand the insult of a progressively deteriorating environment.
We cannot fight our way out of this dilemma. We are literally at war with ourselves.
This is a self-improvement project for our fixer-upper of a species, not a war of ideology nor even a class war.
This is a 12 step sort of recovery thing where we have to heal each other.
Fascism is not market-oriented at all. Fascism has more in common with broken down communism than it does with capitalism. Fascism is driven by collective fear, right off the eugenics cliff like lemmings.
Technology is failing to deliver the reproductive control that is required for a sustainable economy while directly amplifying the environmental damage that each human does by living. Technological disruption of the environment induces fascism by collectively damaging the human capacity for rational intellectual thinking as well as by damaging the emotional capacity to relate and empathize. The damage is both functional/developmental and (increasingly) organic.
We can only heal this problem spiritually. The first step is to calm down the furor on the right with warm wet mother’s kisses from the center and left. Kiss the prenatal/postnatal booboo pain of that patriarchal cycle of testosterone-induced violence and make it go away. Show them how to use words rather than missiles. Nurse them to health so we can all focus on curbing our population growth and reducing our carbon footprint.
The narcissist in chief is not root cause. He is just a symptom of our collective spiritual sickness.
We need to ‘message’ this ‘mothering of the broken right wing back to health’ aggressively. Keep repeating it until we literally kill their aggression with kindness.
If the core message of healing does not work on the hardened right that is in it primarily for personal gain, the embarrassment of being subjected to such a campaign in earnest will help control them. They want to seem tough. We have to take that word back from them. Mean is not tough. It is weak.
Sorry but the rise of fascism is not a result of technology failing, overpopulation or economic collapse.
Fascism always existed. It only needed a fuel (fear of the other whipped up to extraordinary proportions by the yellow press and its descendants), a spark (an openly racist/fascist politician) and the failure of the firefighters (the national intelligentsia) to show up to start the fire or even worse, trying to bridge the gap between them and the fascists by adopting some of their platforms.
There used to be a time when the Right was more vicious with regards to civil liberties than the Left. How many right wing intellectuals bothered to do amicus briefs against the travel ban? How many right wing politicians?
Worse still how many left wing intellectuals and politicians have gone to the dark side and started adopting fascist-lite?
FINALLY. Thank you, Ana!
I had been wondering WTF had happened to Rubin.
I thought he was actually sincere about his beliefs.
I even tried to watch his show, and thought it was an entirely different person.
Watched Joe Rogan (not a genius, but pretty open minded & funny!) make him look like a stumbling idiot.
Got news for Milo & Dave… Nazis weren’t very kind to homosexuals.
So if you think they love you because you are a willing propagandist, you would be WRONG.
SAD. BABY. Not winning.
You should look up the SA (Sturmabteilung) organization and particularly Ernst Roehm and their role in the Nazi coup right after Hitler assumed power.
Milo and Dave are the Roehms of the modern day nazis.
In the case of Rubin you might well check out Erhard Milch and Emil Maurice.
Do research on TYT. They got issues. Sexual assault, false allegations, and unethical behavior. They laid off many with no reason, like Hannah Cranston. Right when they got the huge donation. So cant trust them anymore. Just isnt the same old TYT.
Joe Rogan is also a fucking moron, who has ridiculous fucking views on things. He’s not better than Rubin, just more popular. He’s a right-wing, bro douchebag who likes drugs, so the left thinks he’s better than he is. He isn’t. Go listen to his interview with Jamie Kilstein (a far left guy who separated from his wife and became an instant MRA bro douchebag himself). You’ll see the real Joe in there.
It’s funny that Joe Rogan is considered one of the most reasonable right wing hosts. He at least believes what he says he believes, so can change.
chetzmom, the SA was a paramilitary group that helped further the Nazi cause with violence and terrorism, while providing protection for its demagogues. The Brownshirts may have handed out leaflets, but they weren’t propagandists. You were speaking of propagandists. Your point that fascists use people is appropriate. In the case of Trump, he discards loyalists as soon as they are useless to him. In the case of the most well-known fascist criminal state of the last 100 years, they sent homosexuals to concentration camps, too. In regards to the SA, Ernst Röhm ran it, built it up from a one million-man force in 1930 to three million by 1933, was an open homosexual, and was executed during the Night of the Long Knives, when top SA leaders were arrested on trumped-up charges to solidify Hitler’s alliance with the 100,000-man military. Let’s be clear here: the fascist leader came for the leader of a powerful armed para-military organization and ally and all their guns could not stop him.
There are far better analogies to make such as what could happen when economic injustice reaches a breaking point. Your criticism focused on an exploitative relationship. Like you, I’ve thought of Milo’s alliance with a political philosophy that is, shall we say, less than inclusive and thereby doomed to failure.
chetzmom, another harrowing point is that fascist regime justified the murder, er, I mean, execution of Röhm as being in the interest of national security. We have already seen the beginnings of the national security shortcut with this administration, and I expect there is more to come. The question being, how far will it go?
On Dave Rubin: I defended him several times but he really has sold his soul at this point for cash, and I pity him (and his viewers). I feel really horrible for Ana though, because I can see just how much he must have hurt her and how hard she tried to be nice about the situation. She lost a really good friend to THE KOCH BROTHERS. I wish I could give her a hug. We love you Ana, it wasn’t your fault!
Look protester people, Elaine Chao is Secretary of TRANSPORTATION, so she didn’t separate and gas the families herself, she just put them on the bus to the Concentration Camp! Hasn’t she been punished enough already? I mean she has to go home every night and have sex with MITCH McCONNELL, ICK!
Am I a bad person for uncontrollably LOLing when Cenk said infertittility? One minute I’m irate about the BS scotus decision and the next I’m laughing at a word said wrong…then back to anger. Oh my hell. What a world.
About ‘Home Visits’ … when they won’t come to town halls, arrest people who find them laughable in the halls of Congress, accuse protesters of being paid actors and pass laws that make it ok to run over them with their cars, and lie when they actually do speak publicly, what else is there?
Honestly, amen. Again, super against violence, of any kind. Don’t put hands on people, but yes, go outside their homes and protests! Shout as loud as you can, bring megaphones, make it known how deplorable they are in the eyes of the public. Make their lives just as uncomfortable and horrible as their policies make everyone else. Again though, don’t attack them….just loudly protest. And to Cenk’s point, YES! Go to where the mega donors are too and where they bribe the politicians! Great point and it should be happening. It would have the same effect if not more so then going to their homes. This needs to continue, f being civil, civility is no longer an option!
I agree with this. If they were responsive to people, people wouldn’t resort to such extremes. They are really doing it to themselves.
yes, totally agree
I escort patients and their companions past anti-choice terrorists at an abortion clinic every Saturday morning and was so comforted by hearing Progressive support of women exercising their reproductive rights! Ana, I share your fear that Gilead isn’t too far away.
POS has that one obvious meaning, but in Trump’s case it has an even more prosaic and appropriate one…Point of Sale. If we use the non-expletive one, it applies to so many more of our ‘public servants’.
Awesome video and coverage as always. Thanks TYT! When will the part about Glenn “Gyroscope” Beck be aired? Is that going to be in a post game or something? I’d love to hear the latest news about that very unstable non-genius. So excited about the election results! We didn’t bat 1,000 this time, but big wins nonetheless.
your right Ann America wants Jerry Springer not intellectual debates and its sad. We have to change it and dominate both the Jerry moments and the truth.
Way to call him out for what he is. I was waiting for the response. TYT Strong!
On the protesting at the homes, I agree with both of you. I agree that wherever they go they need to be accountable for their positions and Cenks idea of keeping a distance is fantastic. You get the best of both points. You can make a statement without being threatening which is ultimately important for the cause.
I have no problem confronting them at their homes. Protests only work if powerful people are uncomfortable. Civility, in the face of horrific, violent oppression, only enables those abuses.
I agree. The things they are doing make us uncomfortable in our homes (constantly concerned about whether or not we can even maintain our homes and lives) why should they be comfortable in theirs.
Hey Turks. Thanks for all you do.
The controversy about protesting at people’s homes reminded us of a completely non-violent but powerfully effective means of political protest which was invented by artist/genius ROBIN BELL , a Light Artist who has projected animated messages on public buildings. The effect is riveting! On the facade of the Trump D.C. Hotel, one night for example, he projected the message – in huge letters -“PAY YOUR TRUMP BRIBES HERE” with an arrow pointing towards the door. Similar animated projections on EPA building, etc. Seen by millions. Humor and Satire are still effective weapons.
A brilliant idea! Non violent, silent, no screaming or threats, no destruction of property, a masterful means of protesting , highly creative and best of all 100% legal! They haven’ figured out how to stop him yet. No comment from the White House…? Robin should get the No-Bell prize. Too Strong.

PEACE,

Ernie “Hardware Wars” Fosselius
karen.lewis4@gmail.com, thanks for the reminder. I remember my amusement upon seeing the “light show” you mentioned. I enjoyed your pun, too. As you also mentioned, Bell’s approach is creative. That is exactly what our side has going for it. We do not goose-stepping to one protest tune. Our side has a whole dance card full of protest options, and no one gets hurt, which is dependent on police training. I also like Bell’s symbolism: using light to fight the darkness.
Intellectual light weight? That was generous Ana.
Cenk, please go on Rogan again and call out all the dipshits he gives a platform to, and also call Rogan out on not pushing back and fact checking them. I love Rogan but he needs a dose of common sense when it comes to politics
HI-RES is AUDIO ONLY AGAIN….
