Malcolm Fleschner & Dave Koller host this Friday’s Post Game.

Comments

  1. I get Dave’s comment about country’s teams and the birth place of the players.
    I’m in Montreal and I will love to see the Canadiennes players that were born in Quebec.
    Probably they will win more games since they play for their Province and not for money.

  2. Thank you Malcolm & Dave for another good, if truncated, FPG. The FPG(along w/AP & Reporting In) are what’s keeping my TYT membership going cuz the main show has become a MSM shit show. That being said here’s my two cents for anyone willing to read it.

    1. As a lifelong resident of Ohio I feel the need to clarify, it’s pronounced (hard c/k sound)Cuy-a-HOE-ga. Lake Erie has also caught on fire multiple times as Ohio is super corrupt & thus polluted as shit. Just look at what we’re letting Big Oil do in Wayne National Forest. https://www.ecowatch.com/ohio-fracking-wayne-national-forest-2072891135.html

    2. As far as publicly shaming anyone working for ICE or in our fucked up federal government, I say keep it coming. I don’t care that Nielsen is an appointed bureaucrat, she took the appointment didn’t she? If the Nuremberg Trails taught us anything it’s the “I was just following orders” excuse is bullshit & doesn’t give you a pass when you do or let horrible fucked up shit happen. Disappointed to hear both Malcom & Dave saying she & other ICE officials/workers are just cogs in the system so it’s not very productive to shame them. Cogs are vital to any system, shame enough or the just the right cog into quitting & you can bring the whole system down. Malcolm & Dave, I expect better from you both.

    3. Dave’s question was racist but I don’t think Dave himself is as I don’t think he sees players of color on historically/geographically melenin-challenged team as a disappointment. I think Dave was trying to ask if the average French fan is disappointed by their team not looking “French” i.e. white the same way maybe the average Mexican fan would be disappointed by their team not looking “Mexican” i.e. hispanic, he just didn’t word it very well. As Karrenola stated much more elegantly in her comment this is really a deeper question about how we see ourselves as nations & the learning curve we all have to deal with when our preconceived notions are challenged, uncomfortable as that may be.

    Thanks again Malcolm & Dave, despite my criticisms(past & present), you guys are the best. Keep up the good fight & STAY STRONG! :)

  3. Dave, of course it’s racist. You’re equating a stereotype with citizenship of a country. This was so, so cringe. This is disenfranchising to any minority of a country who has wanted nothing more than to be a proud citizen of said country. It’s deeply upsetting for anyone who’s heard, “You’re not a real ____; Go back to your own country!”

    re: refugee family separation: I think you should protest whenever in public. Maybe some foot soldiers will gain a conscience and actively or passively refuse to implement specific parts of an agenda, or sabotage it. The spoken points seem oddly close to the “Just following orders” defense. Protesting is fighting for civility.

  4. Perhaps what Dave meant to criticize is FIFA’s eligibility standards. Many players have the option to play for more than one country. For example, the US team has players that could play for Mexico, Germany, even Iceland. The French team does have non-French born players. Colonialism is a factor here because colonists’ genes infiltrate the populations of colonized countries, and voila, eligibility. It is a complicated topic and can be discussed aside from racial issues.

    1. The problem with that is that it ignores the fact that teams like France and England have many of players of color who were born in France and England. European countries have plenty of first generation children of immigrants and they legitimately make these soccer teams without being imported. Why would that be “disappointing”?

    2. This may be true. but you can’t chop an d change. once you play for one country you can’t go and play for another one.

      So if you happen to be a child of a migrant you may be eligible to play for the country you were born in eg France or the country your parents were born in eg Chad.

      Once you play for one country, say you pick France than you can only play for France. You can say oh I didn’t make the French team this year so I’m going to go play for Chad.

      So it’s not like the national teams can get cashed up and go buy the best team.

      1. Players used to be able to play for multiple national teams, though players would switch once, and only once (no backsies).

        The current rule states that there’s no switching in _official_ matches, which leaves open the possibility of, say, a Spaniard playing for Germany [[caveats]] in an international friendly.

        Here’s the Fraud Is Fun Always rule:

        Any player … who assumes a new nationality and who has not played international football [in a match (either in full or in part) in an official competition of any category or any type of football] shall be eligible to play for the new representative team only if he fulfils one of the following conditions:
        a) He was born on the territory of the relevant association;
        b) His biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant association;
        c) His grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant association;
        d) He has lived continuously for at least five years after reaching the age of 18 on the territory of the relevant association.

  5. Who doesn’t watch the Friday post game? I don’t think I have missed one since it’s start. I enjoy it more than the regular week post game which I enjoy as well, but if I had a choice it’s no contest Friday post game all the way. Keep it up and “remember stay strong.”

  6. Watching on Saturday… I love Dave, but even the edited version seems kinda racist. BUT he has a good point of Free agency in sports. We really root for the team/geographical area. I dunno, I think Dave was asking a question and it turned out as awkward as he is on camera. IMHO.

  7. The disruption of Nielsen’s dinner was a peaceful protest and totally acceptable. What remains of our free society is crumbling. We can’t just sit on the sidelines while people are thrown in cages for seeking asylum. If we give Nielsen a pass, we normalize this barbarism and allow history to repeat itself. The crimes of the trump regime need to be protested at every level.

    1. Yes. If not now, when? What does it take for people to finally start protesting this crap? If we can’t start protesting when children are being put in cages, I mean really.

  8. placing any of your value as a person on the sports teams in your neighborhood (past high school) , is ridiculous. More distraction from things that really matter (bread and circuses – minus the bread). If you enjoy sport for the sport of it, you would just root for the play, no matter who makes it.

  9. It was so nice meeting Dave in person last February at the Sweet 16 event, I hope all of you in our Proud Nineteen can meet him. He is honest and speaks his mind as well as a being a guy with a GOOD mind. Don’t forget he spent time in non-white majority South American countries like Bolivia and speaks the type of Spanish spoken there fluently.

    What Dave proposed in TTOTB is a worldwide issue that affects every part of our lives — what does it look like and mean to be French? Japanese? Nigerian? South African? Chinese?

    Here in Japan are the strictest immigration laws in the world today and the lowest rate of immigration. Now, with possibly the fastest shrinking population in the world, a desperate Japanese government has recently implemented an ease of restrictions on immigrants willing to work in the construction and health care industries. The 1 in 4 ratio of elderly people is fast becoming 1 in 3, and the Olympics of course require way more workers than Japan currently has. HOWEVER. This new relaxation of the law is only for FIVE YEARS. It’s a five year visa that requires the holder to return to her or his country before it expires. This of course encourages either illegal statuses or arranged marriages with Japanese nationals, both of which encourage more unwanted mafia involvement.

    Japan is one of those old countries that has lots of people believing in the myth of a “Japanese face’ or ‘Japanese homogeneous existence’ complete with ‘special intestines’ and other ridiculous fictions. Thank goodness there are far fewer of these people than when I first came here 35 years ago, but still it is sad to see chock racist TV shows focusing on ‘comical half-breed’ people and on lots of old myths. In reality, the people here have been mixed with all sorts of South Seas, Russian, Chinese and Korean peoples for thousands of years. They are culturally mixed too, despite the small size of the country, and even the Japanese language has elements of Russian, English, French, German and many other languages in addition to it’s Chinese and Korean base.

    Shopping for athletes to give awards of permanent citizenship to happens in Japan, Malcolm. Ruy Ramos is a great guy from Brazil who helped launch the Japan Soccer Association back in the 1990s and Sumo (that famously fixed ‘national sport’) would absolutely not exist if they didn’t do this to get wrestlers from Mongolia, Hawaii, Bulgaria and other places around the world. The decision to crown a black Miss Japan three years ago created quite a stir all over the country. So there’s a dichotomy — the need for a higher population, workers, entertainers and athletes versus the fight to ‘remain Japanese.’

    Wasn’t runner Ben Johnson bought by Canada all those years ago? The idea of importing players for an advantage isn’t new.

    This is in addition to the obvious results of slavery and colonization. In a famous All in the Family episode, Sammy Davis, Jr reminded Archie Bunker that his issues came from ‘somebody bringing us over.’ I’d hoped before November 2016 that I wouldn’t have to remember this episode.

    So yes, Dave, the idea that it’s a disappointment to see a team that doesn’t ‘look French’ or has ‘too many foreign players’ is racist, but ASKING about it the way YOU did is NOT RACIST in my opinion. I see it as the kind of learning curve we ALL have to go through as borders become meaningless despite all the futile ‘Camp of the Saints’ attempts to preserve them.

    I’m so glad you guys found that viewpoint racist. Dave. Malcolm. My heroes.

    You are my hero too, Steve, I hope you watched this PG.

  10. Nations are so fake! FIFA should organize the 2030 World Cup based on 100 geographically contiguous longitudinal blocks split at the equator covering the entire world so that each block contains the same number of residents (currently about 80 million people; recalibrated every eight years starting in 2022) . e.g. (1-NORTH: Arctic; Iceland; Greenland; Down East; South America north of the equator; 2-SOUTH: South America south of the equator; South Georgia etc.; Antartica ) Coaches must have been born in the block they are coaches for. Players (willing , NOT indentured, alive and at least 18 years old on opening day of the World Cup) on each block’s team have to be residents of that block for at least the four years between each World Cup. The World Cup would be hosted by 10 contiguous hemispheric (Alternating north and south then east to west) blocks each four years in a forty year rotation so that each block is a host (automatic qualification) once in each rotation. Hosts earn ticket revenue, FIFA controls sponsorship and auctions exclusive Game coverage to ALL (i.e. TYT sports; NETFLIX) media. Pure sportsmanship: No Race, No Gender, No Tribe, No Hate, ONLY skill and stamina.

  11. I’m pretty sure that no one thinks Dave is a racist. (or anyone that actually watches the show regularly) But to the shaming of that…not going to use a word that rhymes with hunt, I’m with Ana on the main show the other day. Good for the protestors. Fuck the people that abuse others. They can get away with the rhetoric of hate and we progressives just put on giant padded gloves and lazily slap at them. No, it’s time for some small MMA gloves and lets go punch them back in their fucking faces. Not literally. If I see Dianne Feinstein she will not enjoy her dinner. Ever. Protest is intended to disrupt!
    Last thing, after Dave’s impromptu TTOBS part, there was an edit…what happened there?

  12. Shame every one of these fuckers! If they keep resigning (I only wish), keep publicly shaming those that have the hubris to accept these public positions that continue fucking over the least among us. It will make a difference!

  13. The show that Dave is proposing should have a theme song with Ringo singing “What goes on…in the house?”
